Conveniently located in the centre of Bell Street (5 minutes free parking opposite thanks to the efforts of Greg Rattey, former mayor), as the name says - this is traditional bakery concentrating on old fashioned home baking recipes.
Christine's is very popular with commuters looking for fully loaded sandwiches, freshly baked sausage rolls and other savouries.
Locals enjoy the choice of breads - loafs, rolls, etc.
The daily supply of freshly made sweet pastries, tarts, cakes, biscuits and other 'diet busting' treats are very tempting. (Every now and then, you deserve a treat.)
It can be a challenge for parents walking their children past the window full of fancy cakes and biscuits. (Grandparents also - personal experience!)
The front of shop is very small which can result in a queue at times. But the fact that customers are prepared to queue says a lot about the quality and cost that a traditional bakery offers.

It's small and often has a queue outside but it's well worth the wait. There's always a nice variety of sweet and savoury in store freshly made and utterly delicious. We almost always get lunch from here if we're out around lunch time and it's very difficult to choose what to have.
Service is friendly and patient, they do take contactless now and they always seem to be trying something new. I particularly enjoy the chicken and mushroom Danish which doesn't sound like it would work but it's gorgeous.
The giant pasties are also amazing and closing my eyes evokes memories of sunny childhood holidays...
