The Queens Head — Restaurant in East Hertfordshire

A disappointing visit to this pub after popping in whilst visiting friends in the area. It's quite a clique-y local pub vibe, stared at by locals when you walk in etc. Meal was alright, nothing special. The thing that really ruined the visit for us though was the mob like reaction from the locals when a mother with a young child (2ish) freaked out when our dog barked at her child who ran past for about the third time. After a bad experience with children as a puppy, our small dog is very scared of kids and will bark when approached by them. It's worth noting he was on a lead at all times, I held him whenever he barked and we were seated near no children, with only another table of adults nearby. There isn't much I can do to control someone else's child pottering round a pub and coming near my dog, that should be the mother's responsibility. After apologising for him barking (although the child was unphased, as it was the previous two times) the "mother" let out a mouthful of abuse, before the drunk old men at the bar in the early afternoon gave their two pence too. It was quite intimidating for a group of people, including comments from the previously friendly waitress, to suddenly be shouting things over to our table. We asked for the bill and left shortly after feeling a bit shook up tbh. Wouldn't be visiting again anyway but wouldn't recommend to anyone who has a dog that may bark as you will be...

The lady that served us was literally amazing so nice best ever! And the food was unreal the Brie wedges were 11/10 the garlic ciabatta was the best garlic bread I’ve ever eaten like ever! An the steak was cooked to perfection! Best service and meal ever highly recommend! Just had our second meal from this pub in the lock down ( take away obviously) what can I say. Absolutely fantastic first was a delicious Sunday roast, just make sure your hungry. The second was grilled chicken for the wife and a huge beef burger stack for me, and the desert’s wow, just try it for your selves, you won’t be disappointed.
