Rock & Sole — Restaurant in East Lindsey

First of all it took half an hour to be served when there was only 5 people in front of me. On the allergens it said chips are gluten free although potentially fried in the same oil as gluten, so I asked and I was told the chips have their own fryer although the same brand of oil is used (WHAT?) Clearly no knowledge of alergens at all. Chips very clearly frozen oven chips. Soggy and vile. My son who eats food he's dropped on the floor and even food the dog has licked spat them out! Sausage had the same reaction. I asked for gravy and I have no idea what I was given but it wasn't gravy. Looked and tasted like they'd just gone out the back and filled the pot out of a puddle.

This is Skegness for god sake. Have some passion and pride for what you're serving. For the price just serve a proper fish and chips! Should be...

I don't know where any poor reviewers ate but, it wasn't at this eatery. I am exceptionally fussy when it comes to food, the service and what I pay for it. My Haddock and chips was perfect. The batter was thin and crispy and not soggy at all. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Most fish is bought in pre-battered and frozen these days as are the chips in most homes and restaurants charging less than £50 per plate.

My wife enjoyed her fishcakes. The kids didn't like the sausages. But, then again, they only like Morrisons Best Butcher's sausages and only the way their Nan cooks them. They devoured the chips though.

First of all, the place itself is just so run down and every time we've been, it's been pretty filthy. The odd clean table that has no mess on it is due to no one sitting there due to the state of the seats themselves, which are ripped to shreds. Even at quiet periods, the tables are littered with food and rubbish, and sometimes other extras...

The food itself is edible, but nothing I'd ever recommend to anyone. The chips taste really cheap and under cooked, and the fish itself is... bland, for lack of better wording. Had to slather everything in sauce just to make it better.
