Really not pleased with my experience at Crown lounge. We went in for the 4 courses for £10.95. There was no warm welcome, a young girl stood at bar area had no idea what she was doing. She was lovely but definitely needed training for customer service skills. There was no menu so we didn’t know what the starters were. We were told the only starter we could have was onion bhajis. We had to ask for poppadoms & pickles which never happens at any other Indian restaurant. The mango chutney was very obvious it was shop brought not homemade. The onion bhajis came on a long plate half filled with chopped lettuce with a few tomatoes and cucumber on top🙄 there was only 2 onion bhajis on the plate so we waited for more to come as there was two of us but no more came so we presumed it was one each🤦🏻♂️ after a 15/20 minute wait we got asked what we wanted for mains, we had to ask what mains we were allowed as there was no set menu for the deal. We were told all curries except biryani’s. We ordered our mains and they came after being at the restaurant for nearly an hour & a half. Not to mention we were the only people in there so we were confused what all the waiting around was about. Our curries were okay, the chicken was finely sliced rather than chunks of chicken you get at other Indian restaurants. The restaurant was freezing cold we complained a few times but we were told there was nothing they could do about it. The music was very quiet so there wasn’t an atmosphere & no privacy when talking. Overall we were dissatisfied, I would recommend spending an extra £5 and going to lowestoft tandoori for a much better...
Read moreThis Indian restaurant only recently opened in Lowestoft at 10 Bevan Street, East. But I believe it is destined for great things. Four of us went there for dinner on 6 November. The staff were charming and couldn't be more helpful.
Starting with the decor, this is modern but very sophisticated with comfortable bench seats in a smart shade of blue with other parts of the room and tableware in different shades of blue. Very nicely designed.
More importantly, the food. This was sublime. Every dish had a unique and vibrant flavour. I had my standard vindaloo chicken, and this was one of the best I've ever tasted, complemented with chilli rice and a keema naan bread, with the perfect balance of subtle sweetness, and spiciness. My friends loved their dishes, especially the tangy tomato taste of the chicken Rogan Gost.
Portions were large but prices ever so reasonable.
I couldn't recommend this place...
Read moreWe had an issue with the order we received, the issue was with Just eat NOT crown Lounge, we took the food back to Crown Lounge and they couldn't have been more helpful, they rang Just eat whilst we waited and got our poor service from the just eat driver resolved, the manager and the staff were very helpful in this situation, they even offered to cook us a free meal.my daughter has put a bad review on just eat web site, but the bad review is for just eat not crown lounge, they were only mentioned as that was where the food was ordered from, we have had food from here many times before and never had an issue with the food.
In future we will not go through just eat we will go to the restaurant and pick up,
Thank you to the lovely manager and his staff for their help even after I wasn't very nice to them I apologised to the manager and his staff for my outburst. Thank you again...
