We walked into the waiting area, the place was obviously busy, there were staff running around the place, unfortunately not one of them said that they could see we were waiting to be seated and that they would be with us shortly, when they did decide to notice us, we were led to a table with a food menu and a wine list, a young woman came back to us and asked what we wanted to drink, I stated, what drinks are served at the bar and that it would have been a good idea for the bar drinks to be on a menu, she then came back to the table with a bar area drinks menu, I stated it would have been good if that drinks list was at the table when we sat down, but she just patronised me by saying all we had to do is ask!!! We eat in many establishments, majority of which the customer service is good and most places service the customers in a good way, this woman was very rude, I do not know if age is an issue, most of the staff there are quite young, but they seem to lack communication skills, we decided to leave as the lack of basic customer service was missing and I do not like being patronised. A place that is busy is good, but staff should be better trained and aware of customers needs. We will not be visiting there again. I hope the owner/manager reads this and takes on...

My partner and myself came in for a meal on one of our very rare child free date nights. We came into the pub at 8:10pm as we fancied a nice walk to the pub. Neither of us had been to this pub before so fancied trying it as the menu looked great.

On arrival we walked to the bar area in front of the entrance to be greeted by a rather rude lady with short grey hair. No hello, or welcome just ‘ohh we spot serving food at 9pm by the way’ then pointed to a table for us to sit at. We didn’t think turning up at 8:10 would have been an issue as it’s a whole 50 minutes to order and eat (we placed starter and main order at the same time) We were both not happy with the way we were greeted when arriving, we were spending our hard earned money for our night out. It started the meal off on a low and made us wondering why we went there. Luckily our server was a different lady, who was lovely, very polite and attentive. She was a lovely young girl with blonde hair. And also food was amazing, so didn’t make the whole evening a disaster. Credit to the young server and the chefs....

Very busy when we arrived. Personally I feel there are too many tables crammed to near one another so it feels as though you sit on top of other diners, in the bar area. We had booked to sit in the restaurant area, as Dogs are allowed in bar area. However for whatever reason we were placed in the bar area?. A few tables away, a Dog Barked a few times because of other Dogs arriving...the owners then allowed the Dog to sit on a chair, up the table in an attempt to quieten it down. Although the staff were lovely, polite and extremely friendly, none appeared to have approached the owners about their Dog for barking or sitting up the table on a chair?. This is not good, hygienically or when trying to hold conversation whilst a Dog barks. Our meals were really nice, hot and tasty. We did get the offer of buy one get one free meal deal, which is attractive for customers and extremely good value. I would go again, but definitely wouldn't want to sit in bar area if I did make...

Came here for a Sunday roast while visiting some friends in Suffolk, the atmosphere and vibe of this pub is lovely and the staff are friendly. Spacious place while still having that homely feel of a good pub. We went for the ultimate roast, a mixed meat Sunday roast which was nice, the veggies were good but some of the meats were a little dry and could have done with more gravy so a bit of a let down as this is the core of a good roast but the desserts were delicious! The parfait is nice but not outstanding, the sticky toffee pudding and panacotta were big hits (though I don't have pictures of them unfortunately!) I did try them both and they were so good. I'd recommend both. Would come back just for dessert!

Very nice meal! The starters looked a bit basic so we went straight into the main course. We had the beef suet pudding. Very, very tasty; quality beef and a fabulous gravy. It really stuck to your lips!! We asked for chips instead of boiled pots and they were chunky & piping hot. There were many tables with well-behaved dogs, which was lovely. Very continental. The ale was excellent, and the helpful waiter talked me through the different ales. Not gassy. Very smooth. Delish. Staff were excellent. We'll be back. It's a Deben Inn. They have always been top class. Menu below

Popped in on the off chance after a visit to nearby Sutton Hoo and was so pleased we did. The suet pudding was truly delicious, one of the best I have had and my partner loved the fish and chips and simply stated "We are coming back here again!". I won't argue with that. Great food, reasonably priced, comfortable and welcoming atmosphere, friendly staff, ample parking, outdoor seating if the weather is warm. What more could you want after a lot of walking and a belly or two to fill? 10/10
