Used to stop off at this cosy pub after a lengthy dog walk across the top of nearby Butts Brow, many years ago. Was great to revisit for lunch today and take in the light and airy, refurbished interior. We were greeted at the door by friendly staff, and noted all Covid safety measures were in place, including a good distance between tables. Menu choices were displayed both on the walls and on laminated menus. Good choice of vegetarian main meals, with vegan options available on request. Food was hot and tasty (one meat main and one vegetarian) and desserts were equally delicious. Plentiful choice of drinks, alcoholic and non. Indoors was not too busy at lunch time though there were plenty of people sitting outside enjoying the sunshine and a beer. I also noted a well filled water bowl for the use of canine friends. There is a beer garden to the rear of the pub which we didn't visit on this occasion. Prices for desserts and some of the drinks seemed a little on the high side, the cost for main meals was reasonable. Overall an enjoyable visit, and prices would not put me off...

Well... What can I say apart from the highest accolades. My Great Aunt and I are without an oven until tomorrow and desperately wanted a Sunday roast dinner so I googled and up popped The Red Lion just down the street from us. Called up and spoke to Gav who said that our dinner would be ready when we needed it and to book a taxi to pick up and get it delivered. All sounded too easy to be frank. However, bang on time... The hugely massive delivery arrived of freshly cooked dinner that looked properly homemade! With the gravy in a separate pot as GG Aunt Iris doesn't like gravy for some bizarre reason. There was so much food that we have enough for two meals tomorrow too! It was absolutely delicious.... And will be tomorrow too! A fine discovery today. Didn't eat in so can't comment on atmosphere but the chit chat in the background of my phone call was enough to indicate it's a...

Went for Sunday Lunch 23 May 21. It has got to have been the worst Sunday Roast that we have ever eaten. The meat was chewy, meat heated up, vegetables under cooked and cold, Roast potatoes were deep fried - and a horrible. Had to request apple sauce, horseradish sauce which should have been served without asking. I certainly won't recommend this place now. So sad that their attitude to complaints was treated so badly. We did not get an apology and felt like we had done wrong. Also we had to sit in a very cold pub. The coffee they served was simply hot brown water which was undrinkable. One of the party did not eat her meal because it was so bad and was offered a reduction to a small meal. Big deal! So if you go to this place or any other eatery and your meal is not up to standard, then I would strongly advise that you complaint at once. Feedback is important to help improve such...

This was my first proper British pub meal since arriving in the UK, and it far exceeded my expectations! The pie, in particular, was huge and absolutely delicious with the rich gravy—perfect comfort food. I also tried my friend’s local beer, which was a great pairing. I’d always heard jokes about British food being bland, but both my friend and I thoroughly enjoyed every bite.

Great pub in the quiet part of Eastbourne (willingdon). Very friendly staff and a extensive drinks and food menu. The food was outstanding and the potions huge. After an appetizer and main course no more room for dessert. Great prices for this level of food. When I will return to Eastbourne I will for sure visit again!
