Visited on a Sunday lunch, called ahead to book and this was no issue. Pub is tucked away on a side road and parking is a bit of an issue but doable. The main door is literally on the road so extra attention if you visit with young children as road is narrow. Sat down and was seen pretty quickly, didn't receive my drink as it's was oos, wasn't told so had to ask again but this was rectified straight away. Upon placing order I asked if I could swap the braised cabbage for another vegetable or not have cabbage as I'm allergic to vinegar and was told no as all the vegetables are already portioned, found this a little odd as this was 12:30 and the first roast serving, had it been later in the day I would have understood but found it odd and not very accommodating to an allergy. We ordered beef and pork roast, both roasts were nicely cooked, the pork crackling was perfect and the beef nicely cooked but food wasn't as hot as I would've liked but nonetheless a nice meal.ordered desserts- sticky toffee pudding and banoffee pie, really disappointed with the golf size ball of ice-cream in my sticky toffee pudding and even more disappointed with being charged £2.50 for a very small scoop of plain vanilla icrecream for my little one, the banoffee pie was...

DOES NOT CATER FOR PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES. We booked a table for Mother’s Day 2023, on the phone they didn’t say anything about having a certain meal etc, just standard details. We have 2 children with additional needs, autism, GDD, ADHD, SDP. When we arrived we were seated, at a table that was missing a chair, and then a waitress came over after about 5-10 minutes with a small A7 board with 3 starters, roast dinners and 3 desserts on it. We then started to explain about our children’s needs, and that we were not made aware of a special menu, as on the website it has a menu and did not say anything about the menu being different . As per their website it states ā€œ we can cater for disabled guestā€ we asked if they could do some chips, or garlic bread. Some thing that was easy for the kitchen to do. They said NO. So they clearly don’t cater for disabled guest, I would not go back to a restaurant that can’t make reasonable adjustments or cater for my children. NOT A PLACE THAT CATERS FOR...

Outstanding. Our welcome and service throughout was outstanding. Our waitress was brilliant, she was helpful, attentive and offered us excellent customer service. Our food was delicious & we asked for our compliments to be passed to the chef which our waitress did. We had the pie of the day & the local ham, egg and chips, all meals were delicious & every plate was clean. We sat outside as it was very warm & the owner couldn't have been more hospitable. We were greeted with a very warm welcome, an apology about the noise as the seating area across the road from the pub was being cleaned but this did not affect us at all. The outside space is very good, plenty of room between tables & some cover if you don't want to sit in the sun. We shall definitely return & will bring friends to enjoy the Wheatsheaf...

What a place. The interior is cozy, warm and rustic. The staff are absolutely fantastic, very attentive, friendly and know the menu well. The waitress welcomed us in, made us feel comfortable, and recommended we get the homemade steak and ale pie, which I thought sounded a bit dear at £17. However, let me tell you - that was not only the best pie I ever had - that was one of the nicest dishes I ever had. wow. I was honestly gutted that we were only in the area for the day. So thank you, because I would genuinely make that 2.5hour drive down there again just to have that pie. Absolutely Incredible.

We absolutely love this pub, always make you feel welcome. They even remember what we drink! Including local ales, beers and wines. The atmosphere is amazing with the new owners, and it feels like a second home!! The cheesy chips were soooo good dipped in hp sauce YUM!! Don't forget their 2 for Ā£16 offer Mon-Thur lunch and dinner šŸ˜‹ ( we opted for traditional cooked on site Ham, egg and chips and a crispy chicken n bacon salad with lashings of bbq mayo) Yummy scrummy roasts for us and our little dudes mini version too!

First visit and definitely won't be our last ! The food was amazing, my husband had the steak and ale pie and it was FULL of steak he couldn't believe how much was in there. My ham, egg and chips was delicious. The ham was full of flavour and not a string of fat in sight. The staff were friendly and attentive. See you all again soon. P.s bring back the mac cheese pleeeeeeease xxx
