We went to Fox and Hounds for my mum's birthday meal at lunch time today. It was absolutely lovely. Ellen was extremely upbeat despite the restaurant being absolutely packed. There were multiple large groups in for their Christmas meal but Ellen did her best to make sure everyone was taken care of. She advised us that there would be a delay on mains which was fine. The food was definitely worth the wait, everything was superb. And the dessert was best of all. My mum and I ordered the "melting festive bell" and the staff had put it on a cheese board for my mum, with happy birthday written in chocolate and a little tealight for her to blow out. It really made her feel special they completely went the extra mile and made it a fantastic meal for all. My parents haven't been here in almost 40 years and will definitely be coming back. The venue was also decorated beautifully for christmas with a roaring fire in the grate.

We visited on the 22rd of March to celebrate my daughters 19th birthday, we were greeted by Shannon and shown to out seats and was made to feel welcome straight away, she explained the starters and was very helpful through the dinning experience. The food was excellent and service was fast and timely for a table of 10 people. Despite my daughter not liking any real attention for her birthday and not wanting us to make a fuss and sing happy birthday, the staff surprised her with her dessert with happy birthday wrote on the board in sauce and a candle in the brownie, a very nice touch. and even took the time to take some photos for us. I would like to thank the team and especially Shannon for her attention during our visit for making our eveing a special one, she even took the time to take some photos for us. ☆☆☆☆☆

Came here for a meal for my birthday, as we had never eaten here before. The food certainly didn't disappoint!! It was amazing, definitely one of my favourite pub meals. The pie was to die for, and the lemon cheesecake was The service was great, one lady who I assume was a manager even took the time to compliment my tattoo and had a conversation with us. Our food was brought out quickly, the main wasn't brought out straight away, there was time to let the starter go down which was a plus for us. We didn't feel rushed to leave either, we managed to have a drink for half hour after our pudding. Would definitely go back!! Highly recommend!!

Edit 20/2/2025 - My comments below still stand but today we were really disappointed with the service; when we arrived we were advised there would be a 30 minute wait for food, no problem. Our drinks order was taken very quickly and we werent ready to place our food order but we had to wait around another 20 minutes before our food order was taken. We ended up waiting in excess of an hour for our food which really wasnt ideal as it was around 2pm, we were both very hungry and short on time. The food was delicious but the delay impacted on the rest of our day. We also noted it was cold in the restaurant and only partially lit, another, nearby table also commented that heating wasn't on and they were cold too.

We used to visit here many years ago when it was 2 pubs, the fox & hounds and the Lone barn. First time I have eaten here since and despite reading other reviews saying it had lost its charm, we were impressed to still see the stone floor, huge active fireplace, and it's attractive vaulted ceiling. We arrived at 5pm without prebooking and didn't really expect a problem but there was a bit of huffing and puffing over table availability. Apart from large gatherings for birthdays, etc, we haven't needed to prebook since before Covid. Luckily we were found a table for 3. Service was very good and the food and drink were excellent.

  • RE latest visit - update We visited again today and had a wonderful experience. We were well looked after, especially by Gabbie, who took our order and waited on us perfectly. Our food was faultless and delicious and I think our starter (Chef's Board) was quite possibly my favourite starter of all time!!! I also had the Mixed Grill and this was equally filling and tasty. Topped by the friendly service and general ambience, I strongly recommend the Fox & Hounds and...

Had dinner yesterday, party of 4 adults with 2 young children. Ordered starters and mains. We were given forks only to begin with, had to ask for knives. For Starters we ordered a sharing platter, extra bread and Olives. The sharing platter with the bread was brought over, but we still didn’t have any knives and they didn’t give us any plates. Found a waitress and asked for plates and knives. No olives arrived so asked about these. Half of the drinks were then brought over without glasses and no ice. Another 10mins later the other drinks (just the bottles) were brought over, 1 was wrong and we had to ask for the correct drink. Asked for glasses again. Correct drink brought over with glasses. Still no olives. Waitress came and took away the starters, even though one of us was still eating. She also took away the knife and forks and didn’t replace them. Mains were brought over we had to ask for more knives and forks. Some of the food was dropped by the waiter onto the table and he asked if we wanted it replaced?! Yes please. The waiter asked how many knives and forks we said four, a waitress returned with a handful of knives and forks enough for about eight people and dumped them all on the table. The three of us had roast dinners which were fine one of us had the steak and ale pie which only had one piece of meat in it. No follow-up service asking how it was or if you wanted puddings, We found a waitress scrolling in the corner and asked her for the bill. The food was okay, but the service...
