We just walked into this pub, I am pregnant and have a 2 year old toddler. The sign said bookings only but a white family in front of us were allowed in with a table. When we went in next, we were told that it was bookings only, the chef had walked out and it was an hour wait for food. The family in front were told none of this. We said we were happy to wait but they refused to allow us through. There were empty tables and people clearly walking I'm without bookings. Sat down to sample 2 dishes off the specials board. A gammon steak and the pan fried sea bass.
This was followed by 2 proper English pubs, fruit crumble, plus a bread and butter pudding. (NO STICKY TOFFEE OR CHOCOLATE BROWNIES HERE!)
All well prepared, good sized portions of wholesome home cooked food.

Read moreSecond Sunday roast I have had at the vine. Both were amazing with five different veg and home made gravy. The traditional puddings are a good size and delicious. We had our little dog with us and the landlord made a special effort to make sure she had water and a mat to lay on and also treats. It wasn’t too noisy like some pubs can be with music, we were able to chat in the lovely warm comfy surroundings. It’s in a great position for dog walking too. We will definitely be back...
