Matt's Bakery — Restaurant in Eastleigh

Popped here for a quick work lunch yesterday. I chose the tikka sausage and peppers sandwich as it sounded different and interesting, and a slice of coffee cake. The sandwich lady asked if I wanted salad on my sandwich. I said yes, only to find that this was an extra cost - would have been nice if she had said this. The whole order cost me £7 which was decent - obviously not as cheap as Greggs but for a freshly made sandwich, not bad.

I am concerned about their food handling and cross-contamination though. I did not watch my sandwich being made but there was two small pieces of chicken hanging out of the edge of the sandwich - I am unsure whether they were supposed to be in there. The menu board didn't mention chicken in this sandwich at all. I'm not sure if the owners know what 'tikka' means (it's not always chicken!) There was also a bit of spiced fruit stuck to the bottom of my coffee cake, and I noticed a prawn in the tuna mayo pot, so they're clearly a bit slapdash with food prep. The sandwich was OK but the sausages were very poor quality so I wouldn't order this specific sandwich again. The coffee cake barely tasted of coffee - you could have told me it was cookies and cream flavour and I would have believed you (especially as it had chocolate chips on top - not typical for coffee cake). Thankfully I don't have any allergies so I would come here again but I'd order a different filling and keep a closer eye on the price this time. Service was quick and friendly so...

Have used Matt's bakery a few times, but the last time times have been disappointing spent £30 each time getting a few bits for people at work and first time the bacon was absolutely disgusting and fatty and this time we had a small curly hair on one of the ice bun's which is off putting but despite not telling the others they loved them, then in one of the BLT's there was a long grey hair!!! Very disappointing and will not use again. So one of the BLT'S and One Ice Bunn...

Been here a few times and the staff aren't very patient was here today and then staff wasn't engaging at all was just talking between each other about their person life didn't listen to me had to keep repeating myself when I clearly stated when i said something could clearly see they didn't care or wasn't bothered about their customers would highly recommend the one in boyatt wood much more friendly service and offer...
