We stopped over here for two nights , us two and two dogs |The room was very well appointed and clean with plenty of coffee and tea etc.||The shower was good , in fact almost too good as the shower and sink have tremendous water pressure so care needed filling the kettle and when I inadvertently turned the shower on too far for the first time the shower head nearly shot off of the wall.|Good double glazing means not too much noise from the nearby beer garden if you need an early night.|The Royal Victoria Park is a very short walk away and we'll worth a visit as well as the cemetery.|We ate in the pub the first night and had a very good meal ,the second night we had fish and chips from up the road and ate them looking over the sea .|So , reasonable price , good location, grade 2 listed building,comfy bed, dog friendly,good food and friendly staff and a good shower .|Minus points .. Taps on the sink very short which makes it difficult to fill the kettle and a fiddly handle on the door to the room which makes the door difficult to close from the outside if you have...

The bedroom was very small, very poor & frustrating layout & the furniture looked like it had been bought at a 1980’s car boot sale. Bathroom felt grubby & unhygienic. The bed was appalling, no headboard, very cheap thin pillows & and a double mattress that was ready for the skip. Walls were paper thin & we could hear every noise in the neighbouring bedroom.||Breakfast was okay(ish) but we had real concerns about cleanliness. The staff door from behind the bar into the kitchen was a biohazard & didn’t bode well for the food preparation area. We chose prepackaged cereal & toast to be on the safe side.|I guess you get what you pay for, & this place is relatively cheap compared to the hotels in Southampton & Portsmouth. I guess you get what you pay for, & we regret not paying a bit extra & staying somewhere...
