Tapori â A Hidden Gem for Authentic Indian Food
Tapori is a small, delightful restaurant I discovered by chance when I was starving and stopped at the motorway services in Cobham. That day turned into a culinary revelation, and ever since, I make it a point to visit Tapori whenever I cross the Cobham area.
The food is nothing short of incredible, offering the closest authenticity to Indian cuisine that Iâve found outside of India, and at a very reasonable price. The flavors are rich, the spices are perfectly balanced, and every dish feels like a celebration of Indian culinary traditions. For the taste and quality it offers, the price is more than justified.
I recently found out that they have another branch in High Wycombe, which is closer to where I live. Although I havenât tried it yet, itâs definitely on my list for the near future. If itâs anything like the Cobham branch, I know it will be amazing!
I highly recommend Tapori to anyone who loves authentic Indian food or wants to try it for the first time. Itâs a hidden gem that never fails to satisfy and one of the reasons I look forward to driving...
Read moreI visited Tapori Curry Bar at Cobham Extra and was extremely disappointed with the food quality. I ordered a paneer wrap and a tea, and unfortunately, both items fell far below expectations.
The tea was watery and lacked depth â more like mildly flavoured hot water than an actual brewed tea. As someone who enjoys traditional Indian tea, this was especially underwhelming.
The paneer wrap was the real letdown. It was completely dry with no visible sauce, chutney, or seasoning to enhance the flavour. The paneer itself was bland and rubbery, and the wrap had no texture or spice to elevate it. It felt rushed and carelessly prepared.
Additionally, the overall atmosphere and service didnât make up for the poor food. Staff interaction felt minimal, and there wasnât much effort to engage or check on the experience.
Given the brand and location, I expected much better. This visit did not reflect the vibrant flavours and hospitality typically associated with Indian street food. Sadly, I won't be returning unless there are clear improvements in quality and...
Read moreWe ordered the seekh kebab wrap and enquired prior to purchase whether it's beef or lamb (as we informed them that one of us has a bad beef allergy) chef came out and we were reassured that it was lamb not beef... 5 minutes after eating the wrap, allergy kicked in and made her sick.. she's currently still recovering from the allergy symptoms.
The chips were also dry and they mixed up all the extras!!
Customer service was good though, the lady at the front was very helpful and she called the chef for us to make sure that it wasn't beef when we informed her of the allergy.. when we finished eating they were already closed as they close at 9 p.m at this location.
Terrible experience, never...
