The Juice Smith — Restaurant in Elmbridge

NOT PLANT BASED OR VEGAN. This used to be a favorite spot of mine. I would pay the extra money and drag friends and family (who didn't want to pay their huge prices) in under the promise of guaranteed quality plant based food. Which it used to be. The owner recently appears to have abandoned his morals and betrayed the original plant based ethos of the brand. Plethora of animal products all over the menu now yet they're still listed as a vegan health-food cafe?? Wrong on both fronts. This used to be a unique and special place worth the extra money. Now its a regular greasy spoon that's severely overpriced but offering nothing different or special to justify the price. In 2024 when the climate crisis and health crisis are devastating our world and clever businesses are moving towards greener output and the country's top universities are leading the way by becoming 100% plant based, this business is moving backwards, increasing its carbon footprint and ADDING fatty animal crap to their previously clean menu.

Will now avoid as I'd rather support some imperfect 'regular' businesses trying to do better then a sell-out who knows better, has done better but now chooses to abandon their core values. That sucks! Get in the bin...

I have been going to The Juice Smith regularly for the last couple of years but unfortunately this place has gone completely down hill. I had high hope for some new energy when they moved into their new place but it just hasn’t happened. The staff are sultry and quite unfriendly, seemingly unwilling to help. They no longer offer dairy milk, which was a sudden withdrawal. I can’t have oat or nut milks so that leaves soya or coconut - neither a particular preference. Just one of a few examples; my friend ordered a latte and they sent over a cappuccino with chocolate on the top. After questioning if she did, they said they’d remake. When it came back, all they’d done is scrap the top off and add more milk as the congealed chocolate powder was still on the rim of the cup. It’s just a shame as I love their food and ethos but I feel like I won’t return after too many disappointments recently. If the staff made you feel welcome, I could be persuaded despite the bad experiences recently and not serving dairy milk for coffee anymore but they make you feel more like a nuisance than a...

Go for the delicious food but leave for the (total lack of) service. We visited the Juice Smith for a highly anticipated lunch on December 19th and arrived to all but one of the tables being used by staff on their extended lunch breaks (seven in total). We were a party of four yet not a single member of staff offered to give up their seat or table to us. In the end the only other customer who had a table gave his up to us as the staff continued to enjoy their uber-long-lunch breaks. None of the staff were wearing masks and there is little adherence to COVID protocols here as of December 19th. We were not given any fresh water on our table and when we eventually did we didn't have any glasses and there wasn't enough cutlery for our meals on our table. One employee was more interested in taking selfies with their lunch than serving paying customers.
