A Mixed Experience
Having visited 3 Klins multiple times over the years, I’ve seen this restaurant deliver both hits and misses. Unfortunately, my recent visit left me feeling underwhelmed, and there are a few key areas where they could improve.
Food Quality and Flavors
For vegetarians, the masala chips were disappointing—overly saucy, with an unexpected sweetness that didn’t work well. The mains, while decent in flavor, weren’t piping hot and lacked the spiciness you’d expect, with an unnecessary hint of sweetness that felt out of place. It seems like the chefs are being overly generous with sugar, which can overpower the more traditional flavors.
A simple addition like a small plate of onions, green chilies, and lemon served automatically with mains could elevate the dining experience. While we managed to improve the flavors by asking for these separately, they should ideally be offered as standard.
On the non-veg side, a member of our group wanted a half portion, but the restaurant doesn’t offer this option. While understandable to some extent, many other restaurants do allow half portions for solo diners, especially for non-veg items. The manager’s unwillingness to accommodate this felt unnecessarily rigid.
Service Issues
This is where 3 Klins really let us down. The waiter service was painfully slow throughout the evening.
Starters: Took far too long to arrive. By the time they came out, we were already feeling a little frustrated.
Mains: After finishing the starters, there was a nearly 20-minute wait before the mains arrived. When they did, they were not hot enough, and we had to send a dish back for reheating. This took another 10 minutes, by which time our naan breads had gone cold, creating a frustrating cycle where we couldn’t enjoy the meal as a whole.
Final Thoughts
While the food isn’t terrible and the potential for improvement is there, the high prices for mains combined with inconsistent service and inflexible policies make it hard to justify returning. When dishes aren’t served hot, and service is sluggish, it diminishes the overall dining experience, no matter how flavorful the food might be.
If 3 Klins can improve their service speed, offer better temperature management for dishes, and provide a more flexible approach to portion sizes, they’d regain some of the charm that made me a regular customer in the past. Until then, it’s hard to wholeheartedly...
Read moreThis post is to counteract against a recent post from Khayal Mistry. Who posted about an experience that he had in the function room on Friday 13/04/18.
So I was in the function room with my family too. The food was great and the service was even better. The problem started when this one particular family were taunting and taking the piss out the waiting staff. This family I now know to be the family of Khayal Mistry because of the recent post. Anyway later on in the evening that family asked for the bill, they received both bills seperate (food/ drinks bills). At this point the taunting started up again by asking for a printed itemized bill for the drinks.
The waiter said that they weren't able to carry out the request as he believed they didn't have the facilities to do so.
So he called another member of staff. This member of staff (short male) came to the table and repeated what the other waiter had said previous. To this response the male members of the family were obviously not happy with and started to become agitated(as part of my job I read body language and I am trained to do so).
One of the males a slightly older male than the rest stood and started man handle this member of staff demanding that the bill was supplied printed out and not hand written.
Again the member of staff repeated that this was not possible as they do not have the facilities to do this they only have what comes off the till.
At this point a few of the other male members of the family stood and surrounded the member of staff which then turned into a bullying session against the member of staff. Backed up in such a way the only way this member of staff was going to get out of this situation was to push his way out and as he tried other members of this disgraceful family attempted to grab a hold of him with his clothing pulling him by his jumper and trying to get a hold of his arms. Arms were everywhere & If this member of staff did raise an arm and injure a member of Khayal's family then I would strongly say it was in SELF DEFENCE. If I was the waiter then it would have been a lot worse.
Over the past few days I have waited for the family's post to be submitted before I submitted mine. Because I wanted to wait and see if the family would bend the truth about the events and I was correct about my...

Dinner at 3 Kiln
We stopped by for a late dinner and decided to order just a few starters.
Our order: • Poppadoms with pickle tray – 9/10: Fresh and full of flavour. • Chilli chips – 7/10: Tasty but slightly undercooked. • Chilli prawns – 0/10: Lacked flavour entirely and were unpleasantly tough. • Chilli lemon wings – 6/10: Mediocre, nothing standout.
Service: The service began well, with staff appearing friendly and attentive. However, this quickly declined.
We were told there would be a 30-minute wait for starters, the poppadoms arrived within a few minutes, and the rest of the starters followed shortly after 5 minutes. definitely not a 30-minute wait. When a staff member checked on us, we had only tried some of the dishes and hadn’t yet sampled the prawns. Later, once we did, we found them completely inedible and brought it to the staff’s attention when he came to our table!
Instead of showing understanding, the staff insisted we should have said something earlier, despite us clearly explaining that we hadn’t tried the prawns when he initially checked in and he hadn’t returned to our table afterwards. As a customer, I wasn’t going to chase down a waiter to complain. He said he would inform the manager.
Unfortunately, the manager’s approach made the situation worse. Rather than handling our feedback professionally, he came over with a dismissive and confrontational attitude, even going so far as to taste the prawns himself instead of simply acknowledging the issue.
Eventually, we were told the prawns would be removed from the bill, which was appreciated — though it only confirmed that manager knew the prawns were of poor quality!
Overall: A disappointing experience. The way our complaint was handled lacked professionalism and basic courtesy. When food falls short, especially to the extent that it’s inedible, it should be dealt with respectfully, not defensively. Sadly, we left feeling undervalued as customers and won’t...
