I suggested this place because we wanted to try something different than usual. Made a phone order and went to collect. I reached on time and saw a pizza that matched my ingredients but was half burnt. I was waiting to be handed that pizza so I could point out the obvious but the chef just started making a pizza. I asked where my pizza was and was told that they are making me a fresh one as my original burnt. I realised that complaining about wasting my time was not going to get me any further so I just let them do their job. Since they didn't give me the burnt pizza, I am giving two stars instead of one.
The actual pizza was weird. The base was so perfect in shape and taste that it will make you wonder-how did they nail it? After a couple of slices anyone could figure out that it is a ready made dough that you get from superstores. It's perfectly and consistently bland. The ingredients tasted like they had seen fresher days in the distant past. For the price we paid for one pizza, it wasn't worth it. Calling it American makes the pizza place looks dumb because it almost feels like someone trying to convince you that chickens can fly. You could get better quality from its competitors, located not far from it.
I read few reviews here before writing mine. Some speak of horrible experiences and some say it's the best place in town for 20+ years running. Observing myself, I,d say that if they been here so long then it's about time they change their oven cause that oven looked like either it needs servicing or replacing. When I arrived to collect my pizza, I saw the owner checking his CCTV footage with a friend to catch an employee coming late to work. The television is located next to the menu boards near the ceiling so you cannot avoid looking at the TV. I was just saying in my head that I am not interested to see all this while I am waiting to collect my pizza. The whole decor of the place looked like it's come out of a time capsule from the 80s. It seems that perhaps the owner must have just bought the whole franchise at the time and never bothered to give it a different personality than it already had.
I hope that the owner reads this review and takes it as a feedback. Since the place has good customer loyalty (judging from the positive reviews) I am sure that it can become a great pizza place if improvements are made. There is a lot of room for...
Read moreAs an American visiting Leicester, I was happy to find something that claimed to be American style pizza. After ordering, I waited over 2 HOURS for the pizza... which I never got. I requested updates every 15 min after the first hour. Then I called the restaurant. They seemed surprised that I ordered delivery. The delivery time changed to another hour, so I waited. An hour later I got a call from a man who did not identify himself asking if I still want my pizza. Figuring he was from the shop, I said yes, and he demanded that I be outside in five minutes or I wasn't getting my pizza. He then vented at me about how annoying it was that I didn't pick up my phone when the delivery driver called. (Mind you we were talking on the phone.) I told him I didn't get a call. He argued with me, so I told him I would be right down. While I was waiting for the elevator, he started screaming at me, loudly and incomprehensibly. Something clicked in my head: I was not walking into an unknown hostile situation at night for a pizza. I told him to keep it and demanded a refund from the app. I will never try to order here again, and you'd better believe I'm never frequenting the establishment. Someone there has severe...
Read moreOrdered via Just Eat and the estimated delivery time was 35-45mins later. Once that amount of time had passed, I requested an update and received a prompt to say the driver was on the way. After an hour had passed, I requested another update on the delivery and 5mins later, the gentleman from American Pizza rang to apologise and said the driver was on his way. Finally, after 1 hour and 30mins (double the estimated delivery time), the driver arrived. The food wasn’t hot, it was just about warm. The pizzas were salty. Fries were dry and crispy. The garlic bread was more like burnt toast and you literally had to put some effort in just to take a bite. The coleslaw was not nice at all. It tasted muddy and old, like it has been left out for a few days. Finally, I asked for tango and they gave a...
