What an incredible experience at Desi Bites on Melton Road! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warmth and genuine hospitality. The Gujarati thali was absolutely phenomenal – every dish was bursting with authentic flavor, made with love, and served fresh. From the soft rotis and perfectly spiced vegetables to the delicious dal, kadhi, farsan, and sweet, everything was just spot-on. You can tell the chefs care deeply about preserving traditional taste and quality. A special thank you to Deep Patel for his exceptional service. He was attentive, polite, and made sure we were comfortable throughout our meal. His friendly nature and professionalism truly enhanced the whole dining experience. If you’re looking for a place that serves true Gujarati food with heart and soul, this is it. Highly recommend Desi Bites for families, foodies, or anyone craving an authentic Indian meal in Leicester. Will definitely be coming back again soon!

Came here with family that live local in their recommendation and company. Being on Raksha Bandhan we booked in advance which was fortunate as they were fully booked. We sat down at the table and given the menu. There's a variety of food to choose from, which the portions vary in size, however the waiter gave us guidance on this. I had the Rajma Chaval which came in a mini pressure cooker which was unique in itself. The dish was very nice. Other varieties of food including the thalis were nice and filling. The let down was the service. Although the staff were polite and attentive, the speed of the service wasn't the best, where our food was given at different times. This meant that we were all eating at different moments and even when the waiters were asked for either chutney or another condiment it took a while for it to come. Would I come again, I probably would to see if there's a change in service but would definitely for the food.

From the heart of Kathiyawad to the bustling streets of Leicester, Desi Bites stands out as a culinary gem that brings the authentic taste of Gujarat to the UK. As someone hailing from Kathiyawad, finding a place that matches the unique and rich flavors of home can be a challenge, but Desi Bites rises to the occasion, time and time again.

This was my third visit to the restaurant, and it has consistently impressed me with its unlimited Gujarati thali. The experience is akin to dining in the comfort of one’s own home, with a spread that reminds me of family gatherings and festive celebrations back in Gujarat.

The meal was a delightful journey through the traditional tastes of my homeland. The roti was soft and warm, the sabji was a perfect blend of spices, and the srikhand was sweet and good, just as it should be. The khaman was light and fluffy, the dal was comforting, and the rice was cooked to perfection. Each dish was a testament to the chef’s expertise and the rich culinary heritage of Gujarat.

What truly sets Desi Bites apart is not just the food, but the exceptional service. Bhakti, an employee at the restaurant, deserves a special mention for her outstanding service. Her ability to deliver fresh and hot food promptly, coupled with a genuine smile, made the dining experience even more enjoyable. Her attentiveness to repeated requests for food, without a hint of annoyance, reflects the restaurant’s commitment to customer satisfaction.

For anyone craving authentic Gujarati cuisine or looking to explore the flavors of India, I wholeheartedly recommend Desi Bites. It’s not just a meal; it’s an experience that transports you to the streets of Kathiyawad, where every bite is a...

I have been ordering from here for a number of years. They do nice vegiterian samosas, especially the soya samosas. If you used to eat meat but are now vegetarian like myself they are awesome.

Only given 3 stars as the service I received cost me money, was rude and gave false information.

Last time I ordered it was a very busy day, Diwali. I called in the morning placed my order, called up several times throughout the day and added to the order no issues. I was busy at work so o asked a friend to collect my food for me, once he agreed I called up to ensure payment could be made over the phone which the person said it could be. I then spoke to my friend who went to collect the food on my behalf, he had no form of payment as he was collecting straight from work.

I then called back back Desi Bites to make the payment who said I couldn't do it as they were too busy. I explained that I had already called and had a large order and needed to pay as my friend was on his way to collect, the chap hung up on me.

I then called back and the same person said I couldn't make the payment as they were too busy, I then was passed to someone else who said that I couldn't pay over the phone.

I then had to apologise and thank my friend and had to collect myself. This added an hour on to my day and had to loose a job at £75/HOUR to go collect the food or alternatively have no food for my family.

I went in and didn't want to upset anyone as it was Diwali and they were all dressed up and didn't want to give any bad vibes to anyone but very disappointed with the service.

Also the days and times that they open on Google aren't correct. Went on Sunday, said...

Desi Bites is a true hidden gem among Indian restaurants, standing out in ways that feel genuinely warm and welcoming. While many restaurants might boast of good food or curated vibes, Desi Bites has a unique charm—they’re here to feed you, plain and simple, with delicious authenticity and a heartfelt experience. Their bottomless thali is nothing short of a feast, offering an endless array of flavors that showcase the best of Indian cuisine, and the extensive Chinese menu adds a delightful twist, bringing even more variety and excitement to the table.

Beyond the food, every detail at Desi Bites feels thoughtfully designed. Their table numbers are more than just numbers—they’re conversation starters. Each table has a name with a story that will tug at your heartstrings, taking you on a nostalgic trip back to India. And the menu is a treasure trove of memories, filled with dishes that remind you of home-cooked meals and special occasions. You feel the love and care put into each part of the dining experience, making every visit memorable.

In fact, on one of my recent visits, I felt so inspired by the experience that I suggested the owner consider renaming the restaurant to Annapurna, after the goddess of food. The name would be fitting because Desi Bites truly embodies that spirit—abundant, generous, and filled with devotion to good food.

Having visited seven times now, I’m convinced that Desi Bites has become my go-to spot. This isn’t just a restaurant; it’s a place where you feel a connection to the food, the culture, and the people. It’s a place that feeds your body and soul, making it my favorite escape for comforting,...
