I found Bella Sicillia a big dissapointment. The starter I chose was 5ish slices of aubergine and some capsicum pepper chunks, rolled and dusted with breadcrumbs. It claimed on the menu to be flavoured with cheese, garlic and herbs but it didn't have flavour at all to speak of. The capsicum peppers were not fully roasted, and there were dry breadcrumbs all over and on the middle of the aubergine. It gave me a sore mouth to eat and I was charged £9 for the pleasure. The skin of the aubergine was burnt, and at one point got stuck in my throat. Dining partner had a mushroom starter, cup mushrooms with a tomato sauce on them. She said one or two tasted ok but the remainder bland - almost as if the sauce had been stirred properly. Moving on to mains, I ordered a veal dish - apparently unavailable as to was too much trouble for the kitchen. Instead I ordered watery seafood risotto, made with the cheap frozen seafood mix you find in the cash and carry. This was as forgettable as my starter. The other main we ordered was spaghetti carbonara; a little better than the rest but its hardly the most sophisticated dish. Knocking on the door of £70 for 2 veggie starters, 2 mains 3 glasses of 175ml wine and 2 small glasses of soft drink and a bowl of mushy unpleasant olives. All in all very forgettable, highly dissapointing and could easily have spent the same amount for higher quality elsewhere. Family run it may be, so a very generous 3 stars.
We didn't complain on the night as I got the impression the owner wouldn't have been to receptive to live feedback - he was too busy taking photos with a big rowdy birthday party.
Oh, and we had to ask for cutlery, and some olive oil/balsamic to moisten the supermarket baguette we were served...
Read moreThis is a great little Italian restaurant. It is rather small and old fashioned inside but in a good way like some little old italian restaurant you would find in Italy. The portion sizes are a good size and the starters are too which they are not cheap but worth it with the size.
The food is authentic and very tasty i like a lot of there pasta dishes plus the chicken with mushroom cream sauce is very nice ( although the chicken could do with maybe being marinated before to make it more succulent and tender) the sides of potatoes and veg are very pleasant you can taste they toss them in olive oil which make the veg taste so much nicer.
Shame they do not open weekday lunch times like a lot of Italian restaurants do but i think they would need to offer set deals to bring people in and as far as i know they never offer any deals on any of there meals so maybe the lunchtimes would not be as busy but either way still happy to visit here in the evenings or a Sunday. The staff also seem friendly a family run team i think.
I visit a lot of restaurants and Italian is usually my favourite and this is one of the better ones around Kettering/Corby etc. I would say several of there dishes are better and have more flavour than the Palmicheal restaurant in Burton Latimer...

When we first arrived, we were unsure whether it was open or closed. However when we got greeted warmly inside it turned out to be a cozy authentic restaurant. As we received our menus there was a wide variety of options to choose from. Although there was only 2 of us and there were bigger parties of people we got served in good time. Speaking of time the wait was fairly reasonable after we ordered our food. I ordered a Spaghetti Bolognese which was scrumptious and I devoured every bit. The meat was cooked perfectly and the sauce was a perfect amount and the spaghetti had good flavour and came in a good portion. Then he ordered a veal in white wine sauce. A real treat and very enjoyable. The service was attentive and we did not had any problems. They weren't over doing it with the kindness or pestering us. We ordered 2 mains and a couple of drinks with 2 sides and overall it was a good cost almost on the cheap side. I would expect to pay double the price in other restaurants what serve veal. Overall great experience definitely coming back, if you wanted to go to a restaurant that feels like you were back in Italy this would be the...
