Bistro 81 — Restaurant in England

Unfortunately we had a disappointing experience this morning

When we arrived we were not told about the incredibly long wait for food (1 hour after we arrived).

First thing was just a tiny annoyance but added to the rest and it needs to be mentioned. My partner ordered himself a pot of tea and we had to ask for a mug. It also took well over 15 minutes for our drinks to arrive.

Second - the food, which arrived well after we finished our drinks. After waiting for about 45 minutes we saw our order come out but it was given to a couple had ordered their food barely 10 minutes before this. My partner went to ask where our order would be and I clearly heard "that has gone out". Everyone then backed into the kitchen before we were told it would be 5 minutes. We arrived at 10:35 and we got the food at 11:30. When the food did arrive it was wrong. The sausage, bacon and egg sandwich had no sausage so that had to go back. The pancakes were dry. They were 2 American style pancakes with just fruit so very dry. No yogurt or honey, i had actually asked for yogurt but my patience was completely gone.

Finally when I thanked the member of staff on our way out, despite the issues above, I was grunted at. We noticed one member of staff would shout the orders whereas another was clearly nervous and did not. I would strongly suggest installing table or order numbers, it would have saved a lot of headaches. Also please inform your customers when it would be...

It’s more ‘silent dogs allowed’ than dog friendly. We had such a terrible experience today after enjoying food here before. We waited 50 minutes for our breakfast and watched those entering after us being served much quicker, in which time my dog had barked. It was obvious I was trying to settle her but the ‘manager’ came over and asked me to make her be quiet… didn’t offer us a quieter corner or let us know how much longer we’d have to wait just chose to embarrass us even though it was clear I was trying to quieten my dog. Our food eventually came but my order was wrong, the boy just shrugged at me and didn’t offer to fix it. I did tell the manager that I didn’t feel it was dog friendly and it had been an awful experience and she replied that I shouldn’t have been praising my dog with a treat for barking… not that that was the case but incredibly insulting to me. I assume it’s just a complete lack of experience with customers but definitely wouldn’t recommend or return to such an uncomfortable environment. £15 for two Sandwiches and Two coffees . Coffees could be better but overall Ok I have to add to this as the reply from the Cafe was such that I need to clarify . We actually paid £14.50 for Two Sandwiches which we asked to be upgraded to come with Salad, Chips and Coleslaw. Also requested two Iced Lattes one with Hazelnut Dyrup and One with Caramel. The Sandwiches arrived less one of the upgrades . The Chips I would say were wedges rather than chips and sadly burnt . Both Coffees arrived but without either the Hazelnut or Caramel syrups. The coffee were not frothy as would be expected with Lattes and had 3 pieces of ice in each rather than blended . I apologise for not been specific in my review first time but as a new cafe in town I was trying to be polite.
