This was quite possibly the worst meal out we have ever had. Firstly, we had made a reservation (with email confirmation) yet the restaurant had no record of our booking. After being seated, we were immediately asked if we wanted to order drinks. After ordering some drinks, we were asked again if we wanted to order some drinks. This was a theme of the evening - after ordering dessert, we were asked if we wanted to see the dessert menu! When ordering extra drinks, the waitress asked if we knew our table number. Surely, this is their job?! Another waitress dropped a bottle of cider right next to our table. Accidents happen, yet blue roll was left on our table while they cleaned up the incident, and not removed afterwards. The food had absolutely no flavour, and the tiramisu could have easily been cardboard soaked in instant coffee. When paying our bill, the waitress asked if we wanted to include the optional tip and asked how our meal was. We declined and informed her that we were disappointed with our meal; she replied that we were not the first of the night to complain. Overall, we would definitely not recommend Bottegino's. It is overpriced for the quality of the food. In defence of the waiting staff, this is probably a management issue. Yet we will not be returning = there are many other restaurants in Bristol worth visiting, but sadly Bottegino's is not...
Read moreI went in last night with a group of 5 other people and we were all ordering. Me and my wife wanted to share a half and half pizza and when we asked our server they told us that it came as 2. We were confused and asked why and he said thats just how they do it. We thought okay well maybe they dont do half and half they just do two separate pizzas so we went ahead with it. I then asked to order a lasagne as well (again to share with my wife) and this confused the server even more. He then again confirmed it was 7 mains and we said well really we only want one half and half pizza but whatever. Everything was going well and we got out starters really quick which was nice, then they brought out our mains which was 2 full size HALF AND HALF pizzas! Why did he make us have 2 pizzas when they could make us 1 half and half? Anyway as the time went on, I asked another server and she couldn't apologise enough. She explained we didn't need to have 2, we could have had just the 1 pizza and it must have been a misunderstanding. I then asked her to box up the WHOLE second pizza that we didn't want, and she did, then we was charged for both pizzas even after only wanting one. Everything else was superb but given that we only wanted 1 pizza and was made to pay for 2 because of the servers misunderstanding is crazy and so I have given 3...
Read moreI have been here twice within the last 2 months - Feb and April 2022. The first time my food was appalling. You could not taste anything. Prawns in a tomato and chilli sauce just tasted of chilli and sooo watery and my pizza was awful. However, I felt this may have been an off night so I tried it again as a farewell meal to a colleague. First off, a pint of Amstel costs £5.45!!!! That made my eyes water… that’s a bit overpriced Botteginos… Second time I had bruschetta. Now, I’m used to have basil in my bruschetta - there was none and therefore no basil flavour. The topping had soaked through the thin pieces of bread making it soo soggy. Just insipid tomatoes and insipid onions and absolutely zero seasoning. I had to ask for salt and pepper to try and build the flavour up… the pizza…well, I’m sorry but shop bought, off the shelf ones from Aldi have more taste. Plus they have mozzarella NOT cheddar as this pizza and the time before had… As a result of the food that I had that night I won’t be coming back and I would certainly be encouraging people to not go here if it was a special occasion. The rest of my party agreed with me. Clearly it was not an off night. Such a shame because the staff are so lovely and helpful. Apparently this place used to be heaving but sadly, due to the poor standard of food, it seems to be...
