Brown's cafe and takeaway is a long established business on the North promenade cleethorpes. I have eaten here a lot in the past, mainly breakfasts which have always been good. The cafe itself is reasonable large, nice, clean and well lit with a decent veiw out onto the estuary. It has fixed tables with fixed bench style seating around. In recent times it's had a new range fitted. It has a reasonable menu, Breakfasts,Burgers, Fish and chips, sandwiches, baguettes etc and a children's menu making it family friendly 👨👩👧👦.Being open all day, year round it's a popular place with holiday makers and the locals. It has table service provided by friendly staff who were very polite. It has no restrooms of its own however there's some nearby inside the Railway station. It has good wheelchair access, and the tables are open ended, however they are packed closely together which would make fitting a wheelchair in quite difficult in my opinion. This place is 🐶😁 🐕 friendly, so if you're out walking your dog a handy place to stop for a meal.Another notable fact about this place is that it's very reliable with regards to it's opening times, which can't be said about some of the other cafe's and restaurant's on the Sea front☔ 🕓🌞😁. It has a 5* food hygiene rating. Review Nov 2018. I intended to have the jumbo sized Haddock which they advertise, but they only had the regular sized Haddock on the day so settled for that with chips, peas, bread and butter and a regular sized mug of tea.The food arrived after a short wait. The fish was quite small and more importantly not that fresh, the chips were good, but again not the largest portion, the mushy peas were nice though and the tea was good. Not overly expensive at just over £8.00,not a fantastic meal but it was alright for the price,as my...
Read moreAfter visiting a few times I went in for breakfast with my two sons and partner earlier on today - unfortunately, my 1yr old was in a poor frame of mind and was having a bit of a strop. After trying to calm him down, feed him & make sure my other little boy was eating the manager came over and asked me to remove my son until he had stopped crying. I explained that actually, we were in the middle of our meals and that my 7yr old had yet to start his breakfast and he told me again that he would like me to take my baby away until he was no longer crying. I said that unfortunately, babies cry and that as they supplied high chairs I would have thought that occasionally they had to deal with a stroppy child in the café and that I would like to be refunded and that then I would remove myself and my children. He refused to refund me and told me to leave. I told him I was a manager in the service industry and that not only were his customer service skills awful but if I had not received the goods I had paid for and that I was not happy with the service and, as a result was well within my rights to be requesting a refund. He told me to "go back to my pub and run it how I wanted but he was the manager there and I wasn't getting anything". I asked for a contact number for the owner or an address and he gave me the address & number of the café of which he is the manager and as a result can intercept all mail and phone calls - I have spoken to trading standards and will be taking this as far as I can, none of the staff were willing to help, there was no way of getting my money back, we were treated appallingly and I will not rest until something...
Read moreVisited today with my toddler and dog. The young girls at the counter were really friendly. But the food was so overpriced. Another customer pointed out that my dog had been sick, so I apologised profusely to the staff and asked for some cleaning supplies to clean it up. The young lady that came over refused me to clean it up, despite me insisting several times. The food came shortly after, but as soon as it did, an elderly staff member with red hair began shouting at me from the counter that I should be cleaning up after my dog, even when I tried to tell her that I had spoken with the other staff member and she refused to let me help, but she wouldn't let me speak. I already felt anxious about it, but I ended up leaving the cafe feeling humiliated and couldn't even eat the food that I'd ordered. My child also wasn't able to eat as her food was overcooked and tasteless. Will not be visiting again, and would advise people to avoid...
