I visited this wonderful venue on the 22nd Of January 2024 and would absolutely love to come back here on a future visit to Cleethorpes, an absolute gem. This was the 2nd venue I visited during my Day trip to Cleethorpes and I have to say this was by far the better restaurant out of the 2 I visited. Initially they were not open at first during the day due to Electricity issues however upon returning later they were back open and it was most definitely worth the wait. The staff were nice and friendly, if you are after Fish & Chips they only sell Haddock, this I did not mind personally as I would usually go for Haddock as a backup if my preferred choice Cod was not available. I decided to have the Small Haddock & Chips which for the price of £10.95 I thought was a fantastic price considering what I got for it, it came with a pot of tea and some bread and butter, you do not get all of this at many places for such good value, the portion was a lot bigger than I expected and I absolutely loved it. The Haddock was melt in the mouth, cooked absolutely fantastic and the chips were excellent, proper Chippy Style Chips and they were cooked really well. It was 10x better than the other venue I visited aka Ocean Fish Bar and I would highly recommend for anyone visiting Cleethorpes to visit Steels Corner House, excellent value and the staff are friendly and do their best to make the visit and experience enjoyable.

A Grimsby Live scribbler paid a visit on God's Friday, rave review, one of the best fish and chip shops in Lincolnshire. A good review. Sadly I spoke too soon, the proof is in the eating. Does it cut the mustard? Only one way to find out. One week on, the following Friday, I paid Steels a visit. One week on, no queues outside, the streets deserted. From the outside, grim, the smell of the cooking not good (which should have served as a warning). Inside, grim, deserted, one table not cleared or cleaned. The staff surly. A long time to take the order, even longer to bring the order. And no, it was not worth the wait, even less the trip to Cleethorpes . Very poor quality fish n chips, the batter was not light and crispy. The skin had not been removed The tea was not good. At a neighbouring table, the woman left her fish and chips untouched after one bite. Another table, left their fish n chips unfinished. I left feeling sick. On leaving I looked in a new Italian restaurant around the corner. A big regret did not eat there. The Grimsby Live scribbler needs to get out and about a bit more.

We were in nearby Tetney on holiday and Steels was highly recommended to us by the locals, so after a day at Cleethorpes beach we decided to pop in and sample the food ourselves... Firstly, any restuarant you go that has a steady stream of people choosing to wait & queue for empty seats is a great sign - we wanted to have our fish & chips to go but the amount of people that were coming through the door to eat inside during the 15 minutes we waited was amazing, so we knew the food was going to be good! I've grown up on fish and chips and like to think I've sampled enough in my time to spot a 'good un' - and Steels is most definitely one of those! The fish was beautifully fresh & not greasy - and the mountain of chips were delicious. I felt the portion size of the tub of peas was perhaps a little on the small side (I would have ordered 2 if I'd known), but that again was only because they were so yummy and I could have eaten more. Best fish & chips you've ever had? Quite possibly... highly recommended? Most definitely...

What a great find. When we walked in we were asked if we had booked a table as quite busy. We hadn't but 1 was spare downstairs or we could have gone up. I must say there was a constant stream of people walking in. Went in for fish dinner, ordered medium haddock & chips which came with drinks & bread & butter, £12-75. When it came it was like a whale, asked waitress if she had brought us wrong order, she assured us she hadn't. It was cooked to order, was hot and was delicious. Couple on table at side of us chose the special offer and ordered small fish & chips with choice of a pudding, this also had drinks, bread and butter included. Their fish was not very much the same as ours and the offer was exceptional value, £12-99. Think that will be our order next time we are in Cleethorpes. Cannot praise this place enough and far exceeds the popular place on the pier in our opinion.
