This was our second visit and having not had a great experience the first time (long wait, many unavailable items and incorrect orders to table) we wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt and try again. However... Firstly we stood outside in the requested queue spot for over 10mins without acknowledgement from any member of staff even though they walked past us numerous times to serve people sat outside. Eventually we were instructed to go upstairs where we would be seated by someone. We were greeted not by a person but by a dirty dining room with 3 filthy tables littered with remnance of previous diners, an (ironically) dirty cleaning rag on another and food all over the floor. We bit our lip and found ourselves a seat. We were debating whether to leave when someone came to take our order so decided to sack it up and stay. We placed our order (like last time some items were unavailable) then proceeded to wait over 25 mins for a tea and black coffee (!). Food arrived promptly and tbh the food is the one saving grace as everything was cooked well and it tasted great. However portion sizes are pretty tight and my 'benedict hash' (photo) was £18!!! I wanted to love this place so much as generally the reviews are good but after yet another disappointing visit, we won't be going back. The quality of the food does not make up for the overall experience which has a lot...

This place was rammed at 11am, through until 2:30pm when I left, every seat occupied, both inside and outside the shop. They even had a queue of people outside, eagerly waiting patiently, for one of the precious tables to vacate and be cleared, lined up along Marlborough’s overly wide, Main Street. “Homemade” style cakes, pastries, biscuits and tray-bakes, all glass-cloche covered, on show to buy, totally tantalising the footfall of customers into a delectable submission of purchase. Even the strongest of wills would struggle enforcing and maintaining their own personal discipline and willpower, to not consume/inhale these awesome, self indulgent treats. The rest of the menu, of which I haven’t yet sampled, reads well, seems balanced and is offered at a fair price point.
I’ll most definitely return to...
Read morewe were fortunate enough to get outdoor seating (this place is very popular!) We ordered a chicken & bacon sandwich, bacon and sausage bun and a sausage bun with seasoned skin-on chips, cold drinks, milkshakes, chocolate brownie cakes and cinnamon rolls. Service was quick and all staff were friendly and approachable. They manage well with the volume of customers flying through the door for eat-in aswell as takeout. The whole menu is authentic and delicious, the chips were crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, served with a flavoursome mayo dip. We didn’t order coffee but I’m told it’s very good. I love the interior of the shop, very cosy but not overwhelming. The front of the shop is beautiful and quirky. You’re sure to get a picturesque view rain or shine. We travelled half an hour to Bunce’s and I’ll 1000% be returning in...
