TERRIBLE SERVICE!! AWFUL FOOD!! DIRTY TABLES!! Had many great meals at Cafe Rouge so choosing to visit the Centre Parcs franchise seemed a safe option. WRONG!!! VERY WRONG!!! This was supposed to be a family lunch treat during my 40th birthday! I should have know from the moment we arrived when the floor managers greeting was stressed, rude, and you felt like you were causing a problem just turning up. We ordered drinks my wife ordered a pink lemonade mocktail tasted like soda water so dont bother. I had the steak frites along with my son, both were inedible (although my son chewed and chewed and chewed his way through) it was just fat and gristle awful awful!! We waited nearly half an hour for a member of staff to catch my attention I complained and was asked if I wanted something else but the best decision of the experience was no. I asked if my children could just have their desserts. Twenty minutes later still no desserts so I asked if we could just pay and escape!!! The staff didn't know what they were doing, it wasn't busy, dirty tables everywhere left uncleared for over an hour. Then when they were cleared they quickly wiped over and the table bits pushed onto the seats! The people that were there all seemed unhappy with the efficiency and others were complaining too! They did discount my uneaten steak off the bill but not a peep from the manager or an apology! Overall an awful 40th birthday lunch experience that unnecessarily took up a huge chunk of our day and left everyone hugely dissatisfied and the birthday boy hungry!!!...
Read moreBeen to center parcs over 20 years went here for coffee for the 1st time last year, returned this year, also had meals here this time and highly recommend. Morning coffee was delicious, loads better than Starbucks (and cheaper!) Had omelette, mushroom and cheese and salad on the lunch specials twice, gorgeous both times. Had a vegetarian breakfast on the last day which was delicious. Had an evening meal which was lovely maybe small portions but nice, and way better than the Lakeside Inn. I have to give special mentions to the staff. Martin, I have known for the many years I have been going to Center Parcs Whinfell. We always catch up and he is a brilliant host in cafe Rouge. Stacy is just the nicest person. Always greeted us with a smile, and time to chat. These guys keep their cool under horrific working conditions as they are in the center and the heat is brutal under all the glass, and no air con. The staff really do make this place what it is, they are definitely an asset. The cafe itself is in the village center which can be horrendously hot, and so is uncomfortable to sit and eat when the sun is belting in. There is also a lot of people passing, although that can be avoided in different seating areas. Go and try, you won't be...
Read moreWe arrived at a fairly quiet period welcomed by very friendly staff and offered drinks within 10 minutes. When drinks arrived we ordered starter of olives and mushrooms. 20 or so minutes later the starters arrived and were good, and so they should be for the price.
Here the pleasantry ended.
Over an hour later we watched people that arrived at the same time come and go. After an hour of waiting for a 30 quid medium steak it arrived cooked well done at the very least accompanied by. I thing but a sole onion and a few cold burnt fries.
We complained and the steak was taken to be replaced.
By the time the replacement arrived everyone had finished their meals. The replacement steak whilst cooked properly was a cheap cut with a lot of fat.
All told for 1 child mum and dad we spent 75 quid and left feeling like we’d eaten at weatherspoon.
Massively disappointing. Complained to the customer services of centre parcs to no avail.
Save your money buy a disposable BBQ and a steak from the shop 10 metres away.
Summarise long delayed service expensive poor quality food friendly staff that work in a grossly...
