Me and my partner decided to venture to lounge bar after I saw it on Facebook yesterday. We managed to walk in and get a seat, no problem so no need to worry about reserving.
Lovely courtyard setting, lovely decor. Seated quickly as it was quite quiet and the staff we’re very attentive. Based purely on service it would be 5 star.
My boyfriend ordered a toasted tea cake and the breakfast and I ordered a tuna jacket potato.
The toasted tea cake appeared very quickly but looked like it had been toasted for approximately 30 seconds and looked like a very low quality cheap tea cake. Probably a 2/10.
The breakfast looked aesthetically pleasing, but taste wise was nothing too special. When I asked my partner his thoughts he said ‘it filled a hole but I don’t think I’d return again’
My tuna jacket potato was very sad - I checked with the waiter that it would be tuna mayonnaise and when it arrived like very dry tuna and asked if they had forgotten the mayonnaise. It was brought back to me saying that it definitely had mayonnaise in it (it had obviously just dried out or been stored for awhile). I was brought over ramekin of mayonnaise to add myself. A minute or so after another waitress come over and said that she could remake it but by this time I think the food was quite underwhelming and we were both hungry and just wanted to eat and leave.
Nice setting and nice stuff, but disappointing food sadly.
It would be worth noting, not that I am gluten-free, but I have lots of GF Friends and was wowed by how extensive the GF free menu looked and had high hopes that I could bring them back sometime but sadly, I...
Read moreReasonable food, but service was slow and inattentive, given the cafe was quiet. The milkshake was also missing ingredients. Atmosphere was nevertheless pleasant.
EDIT: Just for clarity, it was missing rather more than a cherry, which in any case does taste of something and is an ingredient.
I suggest you stop trying to defend inaccurate menu descriptions. My review is updated accordingly, and you won't be seeing me again.
EDIT EDIT: You didn't receive a rude response, but a factual one, unlike your own. By contrast, you accuse me of lying, trying to ruin your business, and of being puerile, while sarcastically requesting further information. You may wish to consider whether this is i) professional and proportionate ii) prudent, given your business is customer facing and our conversation is public and iii) perhaps a touch ironic.
To your query, the milkshake was missing both ice cream and a cherry. This needn't have been a big deal, of course, but you have inexplicably decided to make a misdescribed milkshake a hill to die upon.
EDIT EDIT EDIT: My review was, and is, wholly accurate, so can be neither a lie nor slander.
Alas, in the course of 'defending [your] business', you've resorted to abuse and serious accusations of deception apropos of nothing. Prospective customers may wish to reflect on whether they will find your cafe as hospitable as you...
Read moreWe hired The Lounge for a drinks reception during our wedding, so that our venue (the Town Hall) could be turned around from ceremony to reception. We had enquired with a few different venues in the area, but chose The Lounge based on the reasonable price offered, and the helpfulness of the team; from first enquiring with Richard, he was very friendly and was able to offer us multiple options to suit our needs. We decided to provide a welcome drink for all of our guests, and on the day this ran smoothly, and everyone seemed satisfied with a drink when we arrived! All staff were also very friendly, and a 'Congratulations' message was put onto the screens, which was a lovely touch. We had a great time, and wouldn't hesitate to book The Lounge for a private...
