Where do I start? The service was pretty poor (appalling, in fact, since it seemed there were 4 waitresses and it wasn't busy at all - hardly surprising) from the start, we were sat waiting 20 minutes to be served, having watched numerous people be served and start eating before we had even ordered. When they eventually took our order brought our food out, they forgot cutlery and napkins and I had to walk to the counter and ask for them as I wasn't acknowledge when trying to alert someone to where I was sat. We both had the same - a hash brown, bacon cheeseburger - which was actually presented rather well and the portion size was perfect (something I rarely find). However, the burger could have done with some type of sauce as it was so dry, and the cheese on the burger was so scarce I felt like I was living on WWII rations. The place was pretty dirty, too (chips and sausage dotted around the floor) which could have been excused had it been a full restaurant with the waitresses at full capacity, which it was not and neither were they. The price in comparison to the food was pretty expensive and over priced, too. Overall, 1/5 (it only gets the 1 for the portion sizing and the tidy presentation). Very much doubt I'll be going back here, would warn...
Read moreCafe Royal Bistro was very busy when we arrived but the staff managed to clean a table for us. The menu has many items catering for all tastes, including burgers, panini's, wraps, sandwiches, toasties and breakfast plates. Our food came after 5 minutes of ordering which was extremely quick, especially considering it being a peak time of 12pm. The hot chocolate was a solid 9/10, the froth was perfect and the flavour was very rich. The cheese and mushroom toastie was absolutely delicious, despite its small size I found myself full very quickly due to the cheese. The beans on toast was also really nice, with a generous serving of beans on top. Overall the price per person came to around £7.50 which is an absolute saver considering the great value and quality of the food. 10/10 will absolutely come here again if I'm...
Read moreI visited this cafe today with my mum and three children. My children have allergies, so when asked about contents I was told they don't know the ingredients of foods and don't have an allergy list / menu.
The girl said her boss was in Turkey so it was best we didn't eat there. I was so shocked, saddened and surprised as its law to have an allergy list. When I said this to the girl, she said she didn't want an argument. There was no argument. I asked that they should know whats in their foods and she confirmed they didn't.
My 3 year old was confused and upset why we couldn't have lunch there.
Very poor show, I won't be returning. Its a shame but the cafe needs to keep up with legislation and law that keeps customers safe or it'll...
