I am disabled and in an electric wheelchair but on my first visit to this lovely chippy I found myself on a narrow footpath leading to the chip shop door where you order your takeaway, I had never been before and found it had a step that stopped me from entering but as I was looking at the menu on the inside a lovely lady came to the door and asked if I needed any help or just to place an order so that was a nice surprise 😲 what a thoughtful person to help me and all I wanted was a chip butty (chip muffin or barm cake in other parts of the UK) I was handed my order and found it difficult to reverse back down the path but got help from 2 passerby. Would I call here again after all the hassle of reversing, yes without a doubt as my experience on this day was a pleasant one and perhaps next time I will wave from the roadside lol. The lady that served me was a real gem and the place looks very clean and tidy with many people sat inside the cafe side as it is separated which makes perfect sense if you are seated eating a meal that you don't have constant people coming in and out of the diner. So even though this chippy isn't wheelchair friendly as such the staff here are and the service was second to none! I rate this place as a must go to if you want either a light bite or a larger order from the menu. I will ask the lady for her name on my next visit so I can give her the recognition she deserves. A wonderful experience throughout and my chip butty...
Read moreThe restaurant is bright airy and clean even on the rainy day we went. Quickly welcomed we were found a table. Social distancing is in place and service is friendly and speedy. The food was marvelous. I had the pensioners fish and chip deals with mushy peas, bread and butter and black coffee. My partner had the full haddock and chips with peas and coffee. All perfectly cooked, including the most fish in a thin crispy batter, which made it taste perfect. Free tartare sauce accompanied it. Process are very reasonable as well. A mere £5.95 for mine! I could dine here every day for a month and spend less than£200! Overall this was a lovely...
Read moreFood here was superb, all cooked to order so be prepared to wait a while. Parking difficult but husband waited around the corner while I ordered food. Impressive black pudding and haggis, both battered and 3 slices in each portion. Steak pie is best chip shop pie I've had by far, pastry was wonderful. Fish was soft and flaky, batter slightly on the greasy side but fish was so nice, I had to give a thumbs up for all the food. No Pepsi max though and we...
