I’ve never had a problem with the food at the church view however I won’t be returning for a while. Ordered two roast dinners at the bar and asked for the gravy to be in a jug at the side to which we were told was not a problem. Also requested to add an egg onto one of the burgers we ordered as an optional extra.

When the food arrived the burger looked like it had been thrown together and dumped on the plate - also no egg. The two roast dinners came out swimming in gravy. When we queried this with the waitress the reply was short and bland, ‘they always come with gravy poured on’, I guess that wouldn’t matter if you want to drink your meal. The fried egg was an item that the waitress called ‘an orphan order just appeared on its own’ to which it then made a lonesome appearance looking rather sad on a saucer doused in grease. Overall food was pretty poor and the attitude towards our queries was dreadful. There was no offer of to change the dinner and to be quite frank we were just happy to leave. We usually have nice meals at the church view and call in for a drink but after tonight we won’t be returning for a little while. Overall pretty disappointed and hopefully this...

Very busy poorly staffed pub. We booked a table and could not find it( names on wipe cards for you to find yourself). We asked a member of staff who told us where our table was. It was occupied by drinkers and we had to explain we had pre booked it. Ordered food eventually (2 staff behind bar), after 55 minutes waiting, (we were advised there would be a wait for food to arrive) We were presented with our three meals, two steaks and lasagne. The steaks were on uninviting green plates, with 10 chips and three onion rings. No garnish . My steak was mostly gristle . The lasagne came with "garlic" bread, I use the word lightly and it was left on the plate. A staff member came to take the plates as we were leaving and asked if everything was ok. I explained we were disappointed and why. She asked me what I wanted her to do and not what she could do to make amends. We had eaten the meals as we were hungry before and after eating and just wanted to leave. It was my first time here and will be my last as my first impression of this place...

We had booked a table and arrived on time, on a Tuesday evening. It wasn't particularly busy. After we had placed our order, we were told that there was a "slight delay" of 40 minutes for food. At this point, we didn't mind waiting. Just over an hour later, there was no sign of our food. We eventually asked a passing waitress to check what was going on and five minutes later, she served us. It was definitely not worth the wait. The risotto had a skin on it, suggesting that it had been sitting for a while. Even the (frozen) chips were horrible. (Change the cooking oil!) My son wanted dessert and, at this point, it was quite quiet so we decide to order. Again, we were told that there was a short wait, this time of about 10 minutes, for desserts. 25 minutes later, we went to find out if the waiter had got lost between the kitchen and our table. It eventually arrived and was ok. Nothing special. If you want below average standard food, served over a period of 2 and a half hours, then this is the pub for you! I won't...

We attended The Church View Inn over the weekend during our stay for Creamfields. Its a busy pub/restaurant in a quiet village. It was very quaint and in nice area. We were advised of this place by our hotel concierge. It was busy when we attended but the gent who was head of service was super welcoming and accomodating even though the pub was full and very busy. We sat outside in outdoor area which had shelter, heating and light. We initally planned to just have a few drinks outside but the staff advised as soon as table became available they would get us inside. We ended up just ordering our food outside as was lovely evening. Food was delious and well priced. Staff were very attentative and went over and above to make sure we had drinks food etc everything we needed. We got a seat inside as weather got a bit cooler later into the evening. Couldnt recommend highly enough. Especially the gent who served us didnt catch his name but he was wonderful and done a fabulous job. Will defo visit again!! 🤍🙏

Came here with my parents who are pensioners and basically got completely ripped off! My Dad said he feels like he’s just been mugged. Waited about 45 minutes for our meals. My Dads pie was burnt to a crisp & so was the 2 tarts we ordered which had hardly any filling in it , took literally 5 minutes to eat. The halloumi fries was also burnt & like cardboard they came in what I can only describe as a battered dog bowl. There were 7 in the bowl with a splash of sour cream and something that was meant to be salsa , wasn’t even half a chopped tomato this was nearly £7 !! Will never go back, had to get our own menus and cutlery and they were all standing doing nothing at the end of the bar. That should of been our cue to leave tbh. it’s a shame as the location is lovely. Didn’t want to give any stars but had to to post this review. Utterly Disgusting!

My sister and I came here for a Paul McCartney afternoon with lunch. We had a fantastic time! Unfortunately the ‘Paul McCartney’ was unwell and had been admitted to hospital. The landlord and obviously gone to massive lengths at short notice to get a replacement band. And he made sure he went around every table himself to tell customers about what had happened. The band he got were called the Merzees. They were amazing! There is no way Paul could have been this good! The food was absolutely gorgeous. We both had steak pie and it was really delicious with a very generous portion. The staff worked incredibly hard to wait on everybody and make sure people got personal attention. We had a brilliant afternoon and I highly recommend. Thank you Church View, we will be back!
