Costa Coffee Tesco Northwich — Restaurant in England

Disappointing on this occasion.The dishwasher was out of service and only paper cups available. The dishwasher failure seemed to cause every thing else to fall apart. I asked for a White Hot Chocolate. The lady taking my order didn't know how to prepare this. Then another staff member said surprisingly that she did not know it was back on the menu again? A lady customer beside me said that just a few minutes ago that she had ordered the same and was told that they didnt have it?? Then there was a debate in front of me, whether it had cream on it or not. One agreed to put cream the other disputed this. Neither thought to ask me? Then she mentionned a black cherry sauce on top and I don't like cherries. So I interrupted and said please may I have another sauce. Chocolate was offered which I accepted. Then the server forgot the sauce after squishing a lid ontop of the cream. After I reminded her about the sauce she removed the lid and put some chocolate sauce ontop. I said that I preferred not to have a lid anyway but was told that I had to have one regardless in case it spilt! It was on a tray for goodness sake. Pottery cups aren't covered. So why and I was sitting in. The pleasant relaxing chilled coffee experience had left the building by now. Then the tables weren't clean either. I had to shift a few trays to sit at a table which was messy. I love coffee and the cafe culture but...

What can I say, we are back to take away coffees, its the usual great cup of coffee but have to drink it in the car. Costa is very social distancing friendly, hand gel dispenser at the entrance, 2 metre marks on the floor, friendly staff wearing masks with hand gel at the ready. You exit through the back door so their is no customer contact. Can't wait to be able to sit at a table and have coffee and breakfast in peace. Cost us...

Standard Costa inside the Northwich Tesco Superstore.

Prices are on a par with most Costa's, but cheaper than those in busy areas, tourist traps & motorway serviced. For example a tea here is £1 and in Cheshire Oaks £1.80.

The staff work very hard to serve you as quick as they can but at busy times there can be a wait. They remain cheerful & professional however!
