Went into Costa Long Road yesterday and a very nice young man asked us if we were eating in or out. We said in and he told us we didn't have to wear a mask to walk to the table but to put one on at the counter. This was fair enough and my friend put his on to go to the counter.
We went in again today and there were different staff working. A young girl came up to us and told us to put masks on. When we said we were eating in she said it didn't matter we had to wear it to walk to the table. We put them on and I went to sit down and my friend went to the counter with his mask on. The woman behind the counter was extremely rude and told my friend very loudly that masks had to be worn at all times while in Costa. My friend told her that yesterday when different staff were on everyone that walked in were told that if they were eating in they did not have to wear a mask to walk to the tab;e but when ordering from the counter masks should be worn. This dreadful woman told my friend she didn't believe him. When he asked her if she was calling him a liar she just said she didn't believe him as she ran Costa in Paignton town and she knew the rules. By this time she was almost shouting at my friend and the whole coffee shop could hear her showing herself up and being extremely rude to a customer. At that point I got up from the table and said to my friend that we were going and would take our custom elsewhere where we would be treated courteously and politely and not be called liars.
We had just come from the Range where we wore our masks for the whole time we were in there and were even thanked by the young man on the door for wearing them. I have no problem with wearing a mask but I object to be told one thing one day and another the next from the same shop.
Costa you should get your staff together and tell everyone your rules so they can tell your customers when they enter your premises.
As for this disgusting woman, as one review has already said, she should be completely retrained in customer care before she is allowed to serve another customer. If it were my business I would sack her. Also she wasn't wearing a mask. As we are told masks are worn not to protect us but to protect other people. She is serving food and drink without a face covering and shouting at customers for not wearing masks. Outrageous.
You have already had four months of not doing any business, if this woman speaks to many more customers like she spoke to us today they will also walk out without purchasing anything and you will start to lose...
Read moreAll I can say is bring back Martin!!!!!!! I know we all been though a lot lately, due to the circumstances that we are all facing at the moment. However I think it may be the new women in charge or a stand in. I really think she needs more people skills, and better manners, perhaps a corse would be good for her? Then she would be able to communicate better with customers. The way she talks to the staff is diabolical, talking down to them, or as if they are children. I was in queue for 10 minutes, shouting at customers, keep 2meters apart, which I understand during the circumstances, there was no need to raise her voice. She needs to practice what she preaches must of been someone she knew but going out the front of shop to smoke, isn’t very professional and doesn’t show Costa in a good light. After the way she spoke to customers about two meters I’m pretty sure she wasn’t keeping her distance. This store is going down hill fast!! I for one and many others I know won’t be...
Read moreIm so happy. I have a few allergies which always makes me so anxious to eat out for the reason of not being taken seriously. The guy at the whiterock Costa today was SO HELPFUL and professional about it all. Making sure i knew exactly what was in each drink and explaining their rules about allergies. He then went on to make my drink himself & made sure everything was clean and sterile before hand...he even open a brand new bag of the chocolate powder to make sure nothing would be cross contaminated. This... this is how you cater an allergy! Ive been to so many places to just be judged and sighed at for the nuisence im causing having to ask questions about my allergies as if i have a choice in being allergic ha! But today has made me realise its okay! Im just as good as a customer as everyone else, even if it takes me a little longer to order! My drink was delicious, so thankyou very, very much for catering to me so so well. Im so...
