Myself and a friend visited this beefeater on a Saturday evening. After 5 minutes of waiting to be seated and the gentlemen Infront of us making a comment about us being invisible we were finally acknowledged and seated. We were served by a very pleasant young lady who took our orders. Within about 10 minutes then food arrived. I had ordered a double BBQ burger and upgraded the fries for cheesy fries. When the food arrived the chips were extremely cold. I told gentlemen who served the food and he did not seem to understand so the young lady who had served us came over, apologised and remembered bed the bowl of cold soggy fries to be replaced. At the same time we ordered another drink. Less than 5 minutes later the chips had arrived followed about a minute later by the drinks. The lady who brought the drinks proceeded to remove my current drink, still with at least a quarter of a pint in, and the bowl of chips that had just been delivered to the table as I had literally taken a few on a fork out of the bowl. Leaving the empty plate and with my friend still eating his meal.
We spoke with the young lady who was serving us who was extremely apologetic and said they would tell the manager. My friend at this point was in complete shock and could not stop laughing at what had happened. Even other tables were finding it amusing at this point and had joined in joking around about a fresh bowl of chips being taken from out table whilst I was halfway through a mouthful.
A man who I assume was the manager came over and asked what the issue was and I proceeded to explain. He told us he would take the drink and chips off the bill. At this point still my friend could not contain his laughter and I commented how I would not mind if the lady who removed my chips, would remove my bill before I paid it. At this point the manager seemed to take offence and then proceeded to argue with me Infront of the other diners. I asked for the bill paid and left rather annoyed by the whole experience.
When I checked the bill back at the car, 1 drink had infact been removed from the bill. As for the chips, I was graciously gifted the 99p charge for upgrading to cheesy chips and still paid the full £16.99 for the burger and a mouthful of fries after sending the cold bowl back.
In summary I personally will never visit a beefeater again and I would strongly advise against anyone else visiting this particular restaurant...
Read moreBooked a table for 24 on Christmas Eve and asked if they would put us on one big table and were told they would. They asked us to pre-order our food to save them time on the night, which we did. When we arrived they had put us on three tables two of which were back to back which made interaction very difficult. Waited 20 minutes for our drinks. We then asked for our starters and were told that they would take our order as soon as they could. When we said we had pre-booked them they told us it was only an indication of what we might want and they would shortly take a firm order. Half an hour later we finally got our starters. We again had to ask for our main meal. When they came to take the order we were told they no longer did the Steak and Ale Pie even though it was on the menu they had sent to us so the person who had ordered that meal was forced to choose something else. The main meals finally came 40 minutes later. The burgers were dry and tasteless and they had got other orders wrong but as we had waited so long for our food we just accepted it. After the main meal our dirty plates just sat on the table and no one attempted to clear them away or ask us if we wanted dessert. Finally we asked for our desserts but they never came. We asked again and still it fell on deaf ears. Our table was booked for 4.45pm and by 8.45pm we had just about had enough. We cancelled the desserts and went to pay our bill. All of a sudden 3 waitresses rushed out with our desserts and when we told them we had cancelled them as we had been there 4 hours they got extremely annoyed and intimated that we would have to pay for them until we told them what we thought of their diabolical service and poor food. They tried to blame Covid which I am sick and tired or hearing. I really sympathise with the restaurant trade but they cannot keep blaming Covid. If they are short staffed because of Covid and cannot cope with large parties then their customers should be told so that we can decide whether to still eat there or not. If they had been honest with us we would have been pleased to go back another time but the way we were treated they have lost the business of 24 customers who will never go back again. They did not even...
Read moreMy partner and I visited on a Wednesday evening. We were very pleased with the food, such a wide range of options! We both went for the build your own burger system and loved it! As a vegetarian I hate that some places refuse to put cheese/egg on vegan products at all, while I'm just like "just let me swap the vegan thing into the vegetarian meal!" It was such a breath of fresh air to just see all burger options broken down into a mix and match system where anything can be put with anything.
I definitely recommend making a reservation at peak times, we booked for 18:45 and it was bar seating only if you didn't have a reservation. Personally I'd expect this, but the two couples ahead of us seemed surprised enough to go elsewhere so I guess I'll mention it.
I only dropped the score a little because they were quite busy and the server almost made us feel like that was our problem and was giving off a pretty impatient/rushy vibe that left us feeling pretty tense after interacting with her. Briefly hoped we could catch the eye of someone else to serve us at a couple points but it was obviously her section, in retrospect ofc that's how it works but yeh, we were left not really wanting to interact with her after only one or two interactions. Not ideal for a meal out where we're trying to ignore the rest of the restaurant and focus on each other.
Didn't love the automatic tipping as this part of the experience would've usually just been reflected in the tip, but we were stuck with the automatic one regardless. Can't help but think maybe they'd make more of an effort to keep up the customer service face throughout busy times if their tip depended on it, as is meant to be the case. Dissatisfactory customer service = no tip, usually.
To end on a positive note, the man who seated us, with the rolled up sleeves showing forearm tattoos, was absolutely lovely. Provided quite the contrast to our waitress, even in the short time we interacted with him, wasn't much but as one of the two employees we interacted with (not including the couple of varied people who brought food out) the contrast between them is so stark and it...
