Crab & Winkle — Restaurant in England

Not happy with the food and service here.

We arrived with me and my husband, son and girlfriend and the 2 grandchildren.

Ordered meals for the children first and asked if we wanted dessert for them but said we would order after they had eaten mains, as unsure what they would want.

My son then ordered our meals; my salt and pepper squid hadn’t seen any salt and pepper and was a bit tasteless to be honest, but ok, I had 2 other small plates with it. My son’s girlfriend had ordered the vegetarian burger but with normal cheese (not vegan cheese) when this came it had chips (not rosemary fries) and no onion rings, when she enquired where these were she was told that was only available on the vegetarian burger not the vegan burger. They went up to the bar as my son had ordered the vegetarian burger not a vegan burger but no one was willing to sort this out and give her the meal she wanted. We didn’t realise there was a vegetarian and vegan burger, as this was on a separate menu, we found later. Really disappointed that they did not sort this out for her.

Then my son went up to order the children’s ice creams (included in their meal) and was told they couldn’t have them as this should have been ordered at the beginning and couldn’t be added on as the tab had been closed.

I’m sorry but I have not got to being nearly 60 years of age, 3 kids and 2 grandchildren later, to be treated like this. So I then went up to the bar and after a bit of sorting out the lady behind the bar grudgingly reopened the tab and gave the children the ice creams.

This is not what I expect from a big company like yourselves. We were extremely disappointed and felt the staff were really not bothered in keeping their customers happy. Needless to say we won’t be...

I came here yesterday the 16th of June with my family for my 23rd birthday meal. After reading reviews for this place, I expected way better. First of all we waited 40mins for our order to be taken as the green king app wasn't working. After 20mins we finally got our drinks, then had to wait another 20mins for the starters. Which when we had finished them, the staff just stood around staring at us instead of clearing our plates and recieving mains. When our starters were finally cleared, our mains took another 40mins to come out and the steaks were not cooked how we asked so we sent them back and got replacements which were correct. May I add the restaurant wasn't busy at all, me and my partner work in the industry and would understand a little wait if it was but it was dead. Price For Food: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Overall the price of the food/drinks at the Crab and Winkle is fantastic. Given the price you pay for your food and the portions you receive is more than adequate.

Speed of Service: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ On this particular day the speed of service was fine. No real issues here and the waiters were regularly checking for updates on drinks.

Food Quality: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Overall quality of my food was extremely good. My mixed grill was cooked to my specification. Very flavourful and everything requested was there at first delivery to the table. Although some more ice cream would be nice with the Fudge Cake dessert. I personally feel it would complete it and compliment it well.

Restaraunt Cleanliness: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The overall cleanliness of the store was okay. I have no real issues with the cleanliness. Staff were regularly cleaning tables and sanitising.
