My family and I recently had the pleasure of dining at Crown & Cushion Inn, and it exceeded our expectations in every way. This charming establishment delivered exactly what you’d hope for from a quality pub restaurant.
The star of our meal was undoubtedly the fish and chips - absolutely amazing and cooked to perfection. The fish was flaky and fresh with a golden, crispy batter that had just the right amount of crunch. The chips were equally impressive, perfectly seasoned and with that ideal balance of fluffy interior and crispy exterior that’s so hard to achieve.
We also tried the burger, which was another standout dish. The patty was juicy and flavorful, cooked exactly as requested, and served with fresh accompaniments that complemented rather than overwhelmed the main event. It’s clear the kitchen takes pride in their craft.
What really rounded out the experience was the decent, attentive staff who made us feel welcome throughout our visit. They were professional without being intrusive, and you could tell they genuinely cared about ensuring we had a good...
Read moreMy wife & I (76 years old) went for lunch last week. Despite waiting quite a long time, we both enjoyed the main courses although they were very large. After lunch I visited the gents where I saw a notice avertising a pensioners special lunch of which we had no knowledge. When I went to the bar to pay my bill, I noticed the itemised pensioners lunch menu, which included both the main courses we had eaten. On the basis that we had eaten 'larger', the barmaid and duty manager demanded we pay full price, which I reluctantly did. When I received my VAT receipt, I noticed we had not been charged for our drinks. Both ladies thanked me and proceeded to ask for full payment, which I gave. I am not after something for nothing, but not publicizing the pensioners menu nor offering a gesture for my honesty was disappointing. The pub have not responded...
Read moreThis is a great place for a visit. The pub has been totally refurbished in the last couple of years and you can tell. Everything in our room was fresh and clean. To my (admittedly fairly untutored) eyes the room decor felt a little bit like something you would find in a boutique hotel. The bed was large and comfortable and although the pub is right on a main street there was hardly any traffic noise. The food is fairly predictable pub grub ( I think at the moment there is a reduced menu because of Covid) but our meals were well presented, tasty with a good portion size. So overall an excellent review. But I must reserve specific praise for the staff. Every one of them was polite, courteous and professional. And all took time to explain the arrangements for ensuring everything is Covid compliant. Well done to everyone at the Crown and...
