We had breakfast here this morning and were really disappointed both with the service and the food! On entering we were allocated a table and we took our seats and food was being taken to other diners and we sat for five minutes without any further acknowledgment so I went to the counter to find a menu and and to be informed after enquiring that we needed to order our food there. When the food arrived the bacon, hogs pudding, and egg was well overcooked, the toast was soggy in the middle and dry on the outside. The mushrooms were fresh and tasty the best part of the meal. On leaving the waitress stared at the food I had left and wasn't concerned at all at what was left uneaten! No when enquired if all was well, no one thanked us for our custom or even said goodbye. Having made a detour to get to this café (my choice), we arrived before 3 pm and there was nothing to eat but cake, take it or leave it.
We were hoping for a late lunch. Sadly, it was too late for warm food or even a sandwich. It felt as if we had intruded on their end of day tidying up routine. It was a huge contrast to the previous day where (on arriving much later in the day and much nearer to closing time) the staff at The Cabin on Perranuthnoe Beach pulled out the stops after what appeared to have been a very busy day.
I have been here once before and quite enjoyed the experience, hence the stars. Not this time, the cake was okay and the coffee would have been excellent if it had been...
