Fish & Chips Waves — Restaurant in England

First time trying this fish & chip shop in Frampton today.

I wasn't sure if it was open as the lighting was very low and I drove past and then went back to check as I just fancied a quick tea.

The shop area didn't look very inviting. I was served fish from the warmer and then I wondered how long it had been sat there. It was a big portion tho, fairly tasty fish and good batter but not overly hot.

I didn't feel overly welcomed in but to be fair I wasn't very chatty either. The man looked like he was wearing a grubby grey overall with dirtier sleeves, which has put me off and I don't think I could visit again unless this changed. It could have just been very old and stained but clean, however, it was really hard to believe that.

This place could be so much nicer, more welcoming and cleaner looking and I hope my review is taken as constructive rather than negative. It's really good to have local food businesses and I do want to support...

Being local i have allways used waves especialy since the local chinese chippy closed during lockdown and covid! ...never had a bad meal from ..normal fish and chips does two of us ect , yes it can be a long wait BUt thats becuase he cooks everything fresh 9 unless you go when it first opens at 5pm then you may get warm ups from lunchtime ..but he usualy has the same oporating procedrue at lunch all cooked fresh! I MUST point out though the review of Neil Kenyon mentioning a kebab ....even though its on the menue board with a big red x through it .i have been going in since opening and NOT ONCE have i seen waves doing kebabs ! ..great food ect the only thing i will say to avoid is the gravy! ....had it 2 times and each time it was like glue with lumps in it ....he obv uses gravy granules for it and the more you leave gravy made with those the thicker and lumpier it gets ( i know was a cook in a pub!) so thats the only bad thing i...

Superb, freshly cooked food as always. I've used this reliable chippy many times over the past couple of years and it is consistently excellent. Great value too.
