Edit from a previous negative experience below !! * I am highly disappointed from my recent booking today 5-3/23 at 12pm. My gf booked online for 2 persons. We were seated in the dining room , not the conservatory which was kinda ok initially although the decor felt like a holiday inn room. The Meal came quickly yet we were expected to share 1 tiny platter of veg and a small ramekin of cauliflower cheese, thought the server would bring the next portion of veg but nothing came . How is a single meal the same veg and cauliflower cheese for a couple when it’s double the price ? My dinner was not enough of a portion either. If this wasn’t bad enough that our dinner wasn’t fully equipped we had the whole football team next to us drinking eating crisps , swearing , shouting , my girlfriend being pregnant is not something I want to be around or expect when having a roast dinner in a dining area. Not once did the server offer to move us , check on us ( my dinner needed more gravy , where as my partners was swimming in it ), we were just left there. I couldn’t even speak to my partner during our whole meal and couldn’t wait to leave. The ambience was of a social club not a family dining. This was our first time and we are local residents and will not be returning or recommending. I would of complained whilst I was there but I just couldn’t wait to leave and the bar server wouldn’t of been able to hear me and I didn’t fancy shouting across the bar to explain my dissatisfaction. (We had to fight our way through the people at the bar drinking and queuing to get anyone’s attention and pay) I paid £34.35 for this disaster. If you are out with mates then it’s ok to drink but with a partner or kids avoid like the plague *Update* Since this review they reached out and offer to sit us for free. We attended today and were sat in the conservatory part !! This made a massive difference - the customer service was awesome and the food and atmosphere was much better !! Based off this experience I would now recommend this place and will come again with my partner ! Thanks it really shows that you care about the customers !

I’ve been going to the rising sun for the past 5 years for dinner and drinks, and I’ve been meaning to write a review for years. Being vegetarian for years and now a meat eater, the menu is so incredibly varied they really do have a choice for everyone. This evening I tried one of their new dishes, cod & chorizo cassoulet, and my partner had the lasagne. Absolutely delicious - highly recommend!!

Nice little find in a residential area. My husband said the beer was too nice and he had fight the urge to down his pint quickly. The consevatory restaurant area is nice and light and comfortable. We had Himalayan steak which we all agreed was delicious. This photo is minus the mushrooms which should come with it. I don't like mushrooms, but I loved the chips!

We were able to agree exclusive use of the restaurant/ conservatory for our family wedding reception on Saturday. The team at the Rising Sun were very helpful with the arrangements and helped set up the conservatory according to our seating plan. A family friend arrived early to decorate the room and it looked lovely. We had to pre order our food, but that meant we all got to choose exactly what we wanted. So much better than a set menu. All the good arrived on time, was hot and tasty, with generous portions. Huge portions of pudding were gratefully received. Thank you to the team at the Rising Sun for helping make our wedding day so special. Best of all, for many of us, it was a short walk home! Thanks again from Steve and Melissa, the new Mr...

Visited with party of friends a few weeks ago as the reviews of the pub and food were good. Sadly our experience was awful despite notifying our order and requirements early as requested. We were allocated a room up a flight of stairs despite informing of our requirements to have a table with wheel chair accessibility. This was remedied successfully. The food was less than acceptable , lasagna burnt and dry, paella very stodgy and bland. Following complaints several meals were discounted on the bill but sadly this did not help the evening which by then was anything like an enjoyable experience. This is a pub that we will not be...
