Wishing I could give no stars as 1 star is overly generous for this negative experience.
Visited this café today on a day trip with friends. Looked like a cute coffee shop in a lovely location. Decided to pop in for some coffee and cake. What an egregiously wrong decision that was. The staff in general were extremely patronising and unwelcoming from the offset. My friend who has a severe nut allergy asked she was able to eat the sausage roll, to which the man replied, there were no nuts in the sausage roll, however, they couldn't guarantee there would be no cross-contamination in the kitchen where it was made. After being reassured there were absolutely no nuts in the sausage roll, she ordered it. After taking a very small bite (mostly pastry), she knew instantly that, not only did this taste of walnut, but she was having an allergic reaction. Luckily, she was proactive and took some antihistamines. It was very fortunate that the first bite was small and mostly contained pastry as without the medication, this could have developed very quickly into a major anaphylactic shock.
We needed clarification about the recipe as her reaction indicated there were indeed nuts in the sausage roll. Upon speaking to the man behind the counter, enquiring about the recipe, he didn't offer the ingredient recipe and dismissed our friend's allergic reaction. He made no eye contact and was incredibly passive aggressive. To dismiss someone's allergic reaction is downright diabolical, especially considering we were only trying to alert the business of this issue so that someone else doesn't suffer from their incompetence. I cannot stress enough how deeply unimpressed we all were at this dismissal, nevermind concerned about how apathetic he was about the seriousness of the situation. He even admitted that this was not the first time that allergies have been a cause for concern!
I do not recommend this café to anyone, particularly if you have any allergies as I do not trust the business is operating within food...
Read moreTrying too hard to push expensive bottles. Unless you order a whole bottle deal they give you cheapest rough pub glasses to drink out of.
Went with my partner for a quick drink and as I don't drink anything fizzy and we felt a full bottle of prosecco was maybe a bit much for her alone we didn't take the waiter up on his offer of nice flute glass and a full bottle of Prosecco or Champagne. I had a red wine, she a glass of prosecco after ordering we were shown upstairs. Heading up the stairs felt like we were going into a staff only area... but then we were shown into a large room with several leather seats buy the windows, it my have been this was a Monday afternoon and so we are the only people there but it felt soulless and a little like been in someones living-room , there was even a box of toys on a table in the corner, not really what you'd expect in a wine bar. After a short wait our drinks arrived, cheap wine glass with measures on the side (even my local pub serve wine in better glasses) and the chunkiest stumpiest prosecco glass I've ever seen. The prosecco was a little on the going flat side, my partner side it was like day old out of your fridge, the wine at £7 ish for a medium was OK but again I think the bottle had been open a little too long so had a sharp acidic taste which I wouldn't have expected from a Malbec of this price. The one saving grace was as we were leaving we spotted fresh sausage rolls and pork pies in the window, so took a couple of them home to have later, they were amazing :)
In short don't go for a glass of wine, buy a bottle of fizz, take a lot of friends with you to make an atmosphere, eat a sausage roll and you'll have a great time. If you just want a glass of wine go to the Black Horse...

Rating: 4.5/5
During our recent visit to the charming village of Woburn, we discovered Flootes, a quaint coffee bar nestled amidst the picturesque streets filled with art galleries and boutique shops. As a family of four, we were delighted to find a lunch spot that catered to our dietary needs, particularly gluten-free options.
Flootes offers a diverse menu, including sandwiches, toasties, hot and cold mains, as well as sides like chips and roasts. For those looking for a more indulgent experience, an afternoon tea option is also available, but requires a 48-hour advance booking. We particularly appreciated the attention to various dietary requirements and allergens, ensuring an enjoyable experience for everyone.
Our family opted for sandwiches, salad, and nachos, which proved to be a satisfying and delicious lunch. The quality and taste exceeded our expectations, and the price was reasonable, making for a great value meal.
Aside from its delightful food options, Flootes also boasts a selection of champagne and wine, which we did not sample due to the time of day. However, we fully intend to return to this lovely little coffee bar on our next visit to Woburn to enjoy a glass or two.
In conclusion, Flootes is a delightful find in the heart of Woburn, offering an array of delicious dishes to cater to various dietary needs. With its excellent food, charming atmosphere, and attention to detail, we highly recommend Flootes for a memorable...
