Popped in for food on a Sunday because we were in the area. The staff were amazing and the food was delicious! I went to check if there were any tables available before I tore my toddler away from the park and there were some reserved but still plenty available for walk-ins. We sat outside (coz toddler carnage) and the staff were quick and attentive with table service - they were polite, kind, and efficient. I was so glad they were doing Sunday dinners as well as their regular menu rather than as a replacement so my boyfriend could get a full dinner and I didnโt have to! He had the lamb dinner which had a massive assortment of veg and was very generous. I had quiche and my daughter had fish goujons. All the plates were spotless afterwards and it was less than ยฃ30 which was amazing. We loved it so much that weโre planning on cycling over and staying at the B&B for a little hol. Thanks for serving such great food and having...

Luckily, a BT Openreach engineer Pat O'Connor stopped (what a star) and rescued us with a lift to Bellingham the nearest village where he dropped us off at Fountain Cottage tea room. We didn't get her name, but the lovely red-haired girl quickly put on radiators to dry our clothes (which were dripping everywhere - we were soaked through); got us towels and made us hot drinks without anything being a bother. What a heroine! Once we settled down, we bought a much-needed cooked breakfast which was certainly welcome but was the best breakfast we'd had in ages - highly recommended when you're in Bellingham. Thank you Fountain Cottage - we'll be back hopefully in dryer...
ย ย ย Read moreI loved the Fountain before the renovations and it was with a little trepidation that I wandered in for the first time. It's a completely different place inside and you can see the work that's gone into it. The menu is different too - a bit more Sunday Lunch than cyclist's bacon sarnie, but that's OK because the sarnies are still there (I'm a bit old school like that). The food is excellent and the cake selection is substantial. I'll have to wait until the outside temperature goes above freezing before I'll attempt the ice creams, though (yes, I'm a lightweight). My Pro Tip is that when it's cold outside to get as close to the wood burner as you can: like everywhere at this time of year, that cold blast of air when the door is opened is No Fun! I'll happily go back, if only to perform random quality control on the bacon, sausage and egg...
