Fresco Gourmet Cafe & Thorntons — Restaurant in England

Online customer here...not a fan of the online review system, but I'll make this exception as my experience was simply weird and unprofessional.

First of all, decent coffee beans...Credit where credit is due...hence 2 stars. I’ve bought coffee online from Fresco for years, even bypassing their ebay listings and buying direct to ‘help out a small business’. They infrequently offer discounts, so when a 10% off offer arrived, I bought a few bags. 4 days afterwards, a one day offer of 15% arrived, putting their entire customer base in a position of having to buy twice to achieve any further saving. I told them I felt this took advantage of their customer base (and did not buy twice.)

Ultimately, when my original order arrived, one of the 1kg bags appeared to have been chewed open then re-sealed with clear tape (see picture). Whether this was by a small creature or a hungry courier driver, I’m not sure…what I did feel strongly about was that I didn’t want a bag of coffee that was clearly unsealed. At no point did I imply that I wanted a free bag, instead I offered to return the unsealed bag at my expense. Fresco ignored a message via Facebook, multiple emails, and several attempts on their contact form have gone unanswered. Finally, a post asking them to ‘please be better and fix this’ on their Facebook page was deleted almost immediately.

So, this is my final Fresco experience…(Gosh, I do hope I’ll be able to find someone else to sell me coffee?) In trying to support a small business, I’m left with unsealed, tainted coffee and an utter absence of customer service in trying to correct it. Had I bought coffee from Amazon, this would have been sorted out almost immediately. ...

My wife is wheelchair bound and I use a walking stick due to arthritis in my knee, we decided to have a drink at this cafe. Now firstly the ladies were very nice although the assistant who served me gave me a pound short in my change, that's not a problem accidents happen, however the man behind the counter was not amused, the young assistant said where are you sitting, I told her and she said she would bring my drinks outside to me and my wife. The man said no you won't we only take food to the tables, I who don't forget have a walking stick said to the man do you want me to carry the drinks myself, he was very rude and said yes you must. Ok no problem I said I will struggle. While I was waiting for my drinks to be poured one of the ladies said to him you do know he has a walking stick, the man said yes I do but ok then we shall bring it out for you, I told him not to bother I will struggle rather than upset him. So there I was with a walking stick trying to carry a tray with two cups of tea on it and the man just watched. I did have to stop and put the tray down a couple of times but I got there in the end. Disgusting don’t eat here!! the manageress is aggressive, shouts at customers and the staff are incapable of getting an order correct. I visited with my sister had to ask twice for my 2 slices of toast that we had ordered half an hour before. Then a very aggressive lady started shouting at us that they didn’t have it on the order as if it was our fault that they had not added it. Despite us checking at the counter and being told it was on the way. We tried to explain but she got even more aggressive accusing us of shouting at her, she then ordered us out of her cafe and started filming us on her phone at which point in her haste to get out my sister tripped trying and knocked the table accidentally and the drinks spilt. We were accused of doing it on purpose my sister is on her 70’s and yet this thought it was ok to bully her shame on her. DISGUSTING AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!
