Freya's Grill — Restaurant in England

We were recommended Freya’s as soon as we moved to Darwen and we finally decided to give it a try. It would be fair to say that we ordered on a Monday, and we know that it is popular, but we thought about this, and decided to place an order at 17:15 for delivery. We were told the food would be delivered at 18:05.

We ordered a lamb tikka madras, a chicken shirazi, rice, chips, a plain and a cheese and garlic naan, and a portion of onion bahjis, which came to £31 with delivery. It got to 18:15 and I gave them a call for an update as we were expecting it to arrive around 18:05, and they said it was very busy, but they were now preparing the order for us and it should arrive within 15 minutes. Unfortunately, it didn’t arrive until 18:45. We were disappointed with this as it was our first time trying Freya’s, and we completely understand if it is busy, but it would have been nice to have some sort of order update, a quick call or text to notify us it was going to be slightly late, and apologise for the delay. This would have gone a long way!

However, I must say that when the food did arrive, the driver Abdul was apologetic and said they had included some poppadoms and the dips as a courtesy for being late. This was a very nice touch.

The food itself was hands down the best curry we have had in Darwen. The curry sauce was really nicely balanced, had a lot of flavour and was suitably spicy. The lamb was soft and melted in the mouth, not chewy in the slightest like some we have had, and the chicken was on the dryer side, but in smaller chunks, plenty of it, which is our preference. The value for money on the curries was well worth it.

The naan breads were some of the best we have had, so fresh and soft, and the cheese naan was filled and so delicious. The bahjis were really flavourful, and not super oily which is great. The rice was cooked well, and a solid choice. The chips were chunky and really nice.

The complimentary poppadoms and dips, and the salad were so fresh, and actually great quality which is not something we have experienced. What a lovely addition!

TLDR: Overall - very long wait for delivery, but despite being so busy they seriously put out a great quality meal and we will definitely...

So, I'm staying in the area for work and was looking for something different than the standard Premier Inn dinner.

After a little research, I came across "Ferya's Grill" I headed down there after a brief walk and bus journey, of which took about 30 minutes in total from the closest Premier Inn.

Once I arrived, I had a warm greeting which was lovely. I dined in on my own, but it wasn't a issue and the staff put together a table for myself, after a small rearrangement.

The setting, atmosphere was very chilled, nice music was playing and was a perfect temperature inside without being too hot or too cold.

I went for the £13 meal deal, which included any starter, poppadoms with sauces, salad and pretty much any main It's an absolute bargain. I had a pudding and 1 drink of which came to a total of £21 (for my main I had to add like £2 as my burger was a huge one).

I had poppadoms, onion Bhaji and a beef and peri peri chicken burger with chips.

The food was served very efficiently, I didn't have to wait to long for my food to arrive. All of the food was very fresh and really nice.

It was a absolute pleasure to dine here, the staff are so friendly and welcoming and the food is delicious.

As I'm up here for the week, I'll be coming back to try something else. I definitely recommend coming here.

Booked a table using the website and got a call back from the restaurant to confirm our table was booked.

We arrived 15mins early and were seated straight away. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and we were sat in one of the booths by the window.

The staff are great and very friendly. There is a great choice of food and this time I went for a chicken sizzler with plain rice and Rob went for a mixed grill with a garlic rice. We had garlic naan as a side to share. Both meals were amazing. My chicken was so soft and tasty.

We both had a dessert, with me having a lemonchello and Rob had the Ferrero Rocher cheesecake. Again the food was amazing. Mine was so refreshing.

After the meal we got a complimentary liquor. We got Bailey's, which I tried this time and enjoyed.

Can't wait to go back and this time take friends/family...
