Gill's Vintage Tea Room — Restaurant in England

A lovely tearoom. They offer a variety of home make cakes, scones and savoury dishes and served using vintage style crockery. The servers are very helpful and the food is served in a timely manner. Afternoon tea is available when pre-booked, however there is no dairy free alternatives. I was offered something different (prawn salad) which was really good quality and a good portion size. The afternoon tea comes in different sizes. Previously, everyone (the group mainly consisted of the same people) ordered the larger option but took a look of it home and opted for the smaller one on the second visit. Not everyone is served the same cake and the servers are very amenable to change the cake or scone type brought if it's not to the person's taste. The sandwich filling is pre-order. There is unlimited standard coffee and tea refills, however speciality teas (e.g. Earl Grey) and hot chocolate are additional and they will still serve you your alloted tea/coffee. A pleasant and rather filling afternoon.

A final note, there is no parking directly in front of the place but a 5 minutes short walk from the carpark behind the Bluebell Pub. After hearing such good reviews of Gill's Tea Room, my sister and I were very much looking forward to coming. However, from the moment we walked through the door the customer service was shocking. We were rudely asked whether we had a booking, to which we said yes, and then we were seated. We were then told that we would have to wait to be served as there were a lot of people waiting to be served in front of us. It was clearly busy and there seemed to only be one member of staff serving which didn't help matters. But we waited 25 minutes before our orders were even taken and it was 45 minutes before we even got a tea and coffee. Its unfortunate as the food was lovely but being constantly barked at by the member of staff and generally being made to feel like an inconvenience means I will definitely not be visiting this...

Booked for festive afternoon tea x on arrival hadn’t set enough seats and they hadn’t got anything ready for a festive booking so had to wait a while for them to get it ready with what they had, then even longer for some of the pastries to which she just put in the end of the table without saying anything x only had 1 pot of tea and the 2nd pot was just topped up with water and no new tea bags in it x I also was supposed to have festive scone which was a fruit and cinnamon and I had 1 raisin, also had no Christmas crackers like the other tables, customer service was appalling with not a single smile x don’t bother going if your a vegan or vegetarian was no choice even though this was...
