Unfortunately this visit was not good, there was a sign stating 30-40mins, this was ok as we have eaten here before and the food was great, however this time was far from that, the starters came out which were fine then about 30mins later the mains came out, one dish that was not even ours, when we got the correct order 2 were good and enjoyed but the other two were not, my burger was overcooked and the mixed grill was 50% cold, to place gammon between the chicken and steak to warm it up isn't a good idea as it just looks messy, cold sausages to boot. We did get a check back however this was done almost immediately after we recieved the food and when I commented on the sausages the reply was "what do you want me to do about it?" I get it was busy, but other people who waited the same amount of time were offered drinks as a means of apology, the only recompense we recieved was when I mentioned when paying, I can only say the gent who served me understood that waiting over an hour was not really acceptable and the food was not to standard, if it were not for him I would have had to give 1 star, the short of it, if you see a sign saying there is a wait, dont as the normal high quality just isn't there. Hopefully the next time we venture in the quality of food will be back to it's...
Read morewe tried to book New years eve for 8 persons on the green king website as it offered a £10 gift card to be used in january" but the website for golden eagle said only bookings can be made at the venue we went in and told them we couldnt book on the website, and was told that the eagle its self had asked for that info putting on the site? so booked and paid in full on the 29th of october and mentioned the £10 gift card and was assured that we would still get it"" but as expected we not recieved it. when we got there they had no peroni,(conveneintly) which was on offer only with pre-booked meals at 5 bottles for £10 . we did try and book them when paying for the meals but was told not to worry there would have plenty on the night. it was only 6.15pm that we were trying to buy them so not know how they had non..the food was very basic yorkshire puddings burnt and stuffing balls like marbles, plus it was not carved turkey as it was round with the rind on all the way around it , it looked just like bernard matthewst roast turkey roll, apart from that the venue was nice and clean and tidy, and nice...
Read moreSlowly going downhill since the refurb unfortunately... Ordered drinks via the app and waited 20mins before chasing up at the bar - they'd no record of the order and I had to show the receipt to finally get served (pretty standard here). Sat at a sticky table, moved to another - also sticky... No sign of anybody wiping anything the whole time we were there. Ordered scampi and waited a good half hour to receive it pale and limp with a few chips and some very stale bread - all luke warm. Dog friendly and some of those in are generally badly behaved with no intervention. The only good thing to say really is that it's very cheap (prices don't seem to have increased at all during the cost of living crisis) - but this obviously comes at a heavy price in terms of quality. I'd rather pay the going rate and get hot food and decent service.
Update: No longer serves cask ales and only shows one footy match at a time......
