Haslington Chippy — Restaurant in England

I recently just moved to Crewe and have been meaning to try different fish and chips and came across this shop as it was closer of a walk than the ones in town.

I think I came around their busiest time because there was a queue and they ran out of haddock. I ended up getting the large cod and chips as well as the mushy peas.

The large cod was definitely a large (I could’ve opted for the mini portion) and they a generous amount of chips on the side as well. I enjoyed the fish and chips. They were both tasty considering I still had to walk back to my place to eat them. The fish itself was seasoned well even with just salt and vinegar. I surprisingly enjoyed the mushy peas (I asked for coleslaw initially which they do not carry).

Just been to get a single fish. Lots of nice pieces of fresh fish on show. Then I was given a horrible old greasy piece that looked like it had been there for hours. Wasn't asked if I wanted salt and vinegar. When I opened it no salt and vinegar. Tasteless. Asked for brown sauce in shop. Guy looked bewildered at the request and looked though a few bottles of if stuff to see if they had any. I said leave it. Paid nearly a tenner knowint it was going to be awful. Great cod with really tasty batter but the chips are pretty average. The portion sizes are easily big enough and the prices are good too. The staff are very friendly and have a good relationship with the regulars. Their covid measured seem good enough too. They have 2 serving stations separated by a screen as well as the staff being separated from the customers by a screen. Perhaps an easy way to up the chip game (and possibly gain that extra star) would be to offer...
