Well people put the word out, we had the pleasure of meeting Lloyd at Jambo Grill in Cricklade this evening. Take our advice and follow suit, prepare your taste buds for a flavour explosion! Each bite bursts with authenticity—the tang of tamarind, the heat of chilli peppers, and the richness of coconut milk. The Ugali, a maize-based staple, is the perfect canvas for soaking up these bold flavours.
Jambo Grill isn’t just a restaurant; it’s an escape. As you savour every mouthful, you’ll feel the rhythm of Nairobi’s bustling streets and the serenity of the Maasai Mara. It’s a celebration of culture, community, and culinary artistry—a place where joy is served alongside every plate.
The restaurant’s interior seamlessly blends east and west, creating an inviting space that feels both familiar and exotic. Earthy tones, tribal patterns, and handcrafted artifacts transport you to the heart of Kenya. It’s a place where cultures collide, and the result is pure magic.
Lloyd, the charismatic host, is a walking encyclopedia of culinary knowledge. He’ll guide you through the menu with infectious enthusiasm, sharing stories of Kenyan traditions and the origins of each dish. His passion is contagious, making the dining experience all the more memorable.
I had the vegetable samosa and mango chutney to start, followed by the slow cooked beef brisket with mukimo honey roasted vegetables, both dishes were absolutely lovely, whilst waiting for my meal I had the masala chai which was wonderfully warming and exotic. My husband Tim had the Lake Victoria fish cakes with spiced taramind dip, followed by the calves liver, chargrilled and tossed in onions, garlic, peppers, chilli and fresh parsley & coriander.
Being two people that love our food, we will be telling all our friends and family about this gem of a place, it certainly is a little oasis of African splendour in the Cotswolds. - A phenomenal dining experience that I hope to repeat soon.
Thanks Lloyd for a memorable evening. We will...

From the moment we stepped in, the ambiance of Jambo Grill enveloped us in a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
The menu, a testament to the rich Kenyan culinary tradition, was a parade of flavors. We started our meal with the crispiest and most flavorful samosas, a perfect appetizer to whet our appetites. But the real showstopper was the range of grilled meats - chicken, lamb, beef, and pork - each grilled to perfection.
What truly elevated our dining experience was the chef's presence. His friendly demeanor and patience in answering our queries about Kenyan cuisine added a personal touch. His recommendations were spot on, guiding us to traditional dishes that captured the essence of Kenya's rich culinary heritage.

She was very sweet and helped us decide what we would like from her menu. She cooked some of the best Asian/African infused dishes we have ever tried, and to do all that on her own blew us away! Huge compliments to the chef! The gentleman front of house was also very welcoming and professional. The atmosphere is lovely with the paintings and the music. We would definitely return if we ever pass...
