Me and my partner visited this “café” today for breakfast, and it was one of the worst experiences we’ve had. The hash browns were extremely hard, clearly old or reheated, and completely inedible. When we raised this with staff, there was no apology. Instead, we were told to bring the plate to the counter without a “please,” and the replacement hash browns came out raw, oily, and even worse. Shortly after, we felt unwell and developed stomach pain. The overall environment was very poor and unsanitary. The place looked tacky, with just a few tables thrown together and a freezer sitting in the corner, which was full of frozen ingredients the family members working there pulled out to cook with. There were flies everywhere, including on mushrooms that had been left out on a table, and even in the bathroom. It was unhygienic and unpleasant throughout. The service was equally unprofessional. Staff, who all seemed to be family members, showed no care or basic customer service. Their attitude was dismissive and uncaring, which only added to how uncomfortable the visit felt. To make matters worse, the hot chocolate was served in a cup that smelt like dog breath. Since dogs are allowed inside the café, it left us wondering if the same cups were also being used to serve them water. Overall, this café felt dirty, unprofessional, and unsafe. I would not recommend it to anyone.

I recently had an extremely negative experience at The Barista in Cricklade. As someone who frequently works remotely from cafes, I was excited to check out this spot. However, I was sorely disappointed. The staff was extremely rude when I attempted to charge my laptop, accusing me of trying to harm their customers, despite the fact that I was a paying customer myself. It's important to note that the seating area lacked adequate power sockets, making it difficult to work from this location. See attached photos. The only available socket was located in an inconvenient spot and was made even more frustrating by the unhelpful staff. I found their behaviour and policy of not allowing customers to charge their devices to be highly unusual and very unwelcoming. As someone who values good customer service, I will definitely not be returning to The Barista in the future.

Situated near the bottom end of Cricklade's rather quaint high street is this unassuming cafe. It looks inoccuous enough from the outside. You order and pay, then wait. I visited in passing, on a weekday, outside of the school holiday period. The high street was quiet to say the least. I sat outside. When my tea and food arrived, I was very pleasantly surprized! You'd be amazed at what turns up when you order a simple filled jacket potato! It comes in a good sized bowl, because it needs to! Yes, you have your spud, containing its filling, and generous both are, too. Then it is surrounded by a finely prepared salad, drizzled in a savoury sauce! It's hardly a snack! The staff are very friendly, the food is unbelievable and the prices are more than reasonable! Oh, and there's plenty of free parking around, too!
