My recent visit to James’ Kitchen was one of the worst dining experiences I've had. Despite being an established business, the food quality was abysmal. What's more concerning was the lack of hygiene practices observed, particularly when the server, without washing their hands, retrieved cheese from an area that seemed to be the back garden before returning to handle food in the kitchen. This disregard for basic hygiene, along with the disappointing 'tuna mayo panini' I ordered, left me regretting my decision to give this place a try. The overall cleanliness of the restaurant also fell short, with dirty crockery and tables further detracting from the experience. In hindsight, I should have saved my money and dined elsewhere. *Edit* Good afternoon, Thank you for taking the time to respond to my review. While I appreciate the information about the backup fridge and freezer, and the placement of the food hand wash basin, I still observed a concerning lapse in hygiene practices during my visit. Regardless of the location of the hand wash basin, it's essential that staff adhere to proper handwashing protocols, especially when handling food items after being outside the kitchen area. I'm glad to hear that your paninis and toasties typically receive positive reviews. However, my experience with the 'tuna mayo panini' was unfortunately not satisfactory, which prompted my feedback. As for the issue of dirty tables and crockery, I understand that busy times can make it challenging to maintain cleanliness promptly. However, ensuring a clean environment for all customers is crucial for a positive dining experience. Once again, thank you for acknowledging my feedback. I hope these points can contribute to improvements in the future. Best regards.

Friendly service and space out the back to leave our bikes. A very nice bacon butty and a lovely bit of cake to keep us fuelled before the next leg of our cycling journey!

I’m new to the town and one of the first places I tried out. Food is fresh , delicious and well priced and the staff are so friendly. Definitely recommend.

Forget the multi-national coffee-houses which now dominate our High Streets. If you're looking for a more relaxed atmosphere with a family-run business with staff who genuinely care - rather than because they've been corporately brainwashed, then this is the place for you. I've been twice now, each time for over an hour whilst my my wife has been in the nearby hairdressers; and having drunk my latte and eaten my slice of their excellent home-made fruit cake, I've sat there with an empty latte-glass and plate with no one hassling me to vacate my table or buy another coffee. On the last occasion my wife joined me and we both had an excellent snack-lunch there. And there's even a rear entrance, direct off Winslow's main car park. (A free car park! - with no time restrictions!) The food is great, the staff friendly, and I'm already looking forward to my next visit. I just wish my wife was 'higher-maintenance' - so I could justify visiting...

Rooneys provided outside catering of a fantastic finger buffet for 50 guests at a funeral for us. Derek was so easy to talk to and brilliant at suggesting and advising. His experience and expertise were evident and we felt very happy to leave everything in his capable hands. The result was a wide, interesting and inviting range of savouries and cakes. Everything was excellent quality and really tasty. People enjoyed it and commented on such a lovely lunch. Derek took on all the liaison and arrangements with our venue. We were able to leave it all to him and it was lovely not to have to worry. The presentation was very attractive and we felt it was good value for money.

We have also visited the tea shop for lunch on a couple of occasions. Always delicious and...
