On arrival, there was some dispute in the kitchen, and a staff member was shouting at another. Really didn't set the tone for the night, but okay. At this point, it was the least of the trouble. I am so disappointed with this experience. I have been before, and it was awesome. So, it was embarrassing when the service didn't reflect my recommendation to my family when choosing a place to eat.
Nobody came to greet us and take us to our table. We had to ask a staff member where we were to sit. So, once prompted, they took us to our table. It was out of the way, and we felt ignored by staff.
We sat for quite some time before they even came to take our drinks order (30 minutes). They could have done this when they seated us. When I asked for water for the table. They brought a jug that roughly held about 500ml water and two small glasses when there were 5 of us.
We ordered the huge Meze platter that served 4. When it arrived, we got this small platter with a mix of food to pick at. We noticed a hair on one of the calamari rings. The calamari itself was so overcooked that the crispy batter had burst off it, and the ring inside was tough and chewie like an elastic band. Which is what I detest about squid. It's awful if it is overcooked. At this point, we thought that was all we got for this platter because other tables were being served food, but it seemed to be missing some things. We'd mostly devoured the plate when finally the rest of the food for the platter turned up. They didn't tell us they were waiting on more food. We assumed that's all it was. The gap between the rest of the starter coming was so long that we actually didn't expect anything else. The rest of the starter were dip like foods such as hummus and yoghurt, probably to compliment the picky food that was now all gone. We didn't even get anything like pittas or bread sticks to dip in it.
When we'd finished the starters, the plates were all waiting to be taken away. But instead, they just started bringing out our mains. They didn't even ask if we were finished with our starters. At this point, again, they didn't ask if we'd like another drink. Which we had been waiting for so long we were sat dry.
The pasta came out cold. That was sent back to be reheated. The rest of us except one person had food brought out and inbetween bringing our meals out, they were bringing other people's rather than concentrating on just one table at a time, and guess what we were still waiting on a drink.
Finally, out of frustration, we went to the bar to get a drink. While at the bar, we said we were still waiting on one meal to come out. Obviously, we're all there waiting to eat together. It's rude to be eating while others are waiting. While at the bar, the staff member identified the missing meal, and it was actually at the bar for some reason. The waiter just walks off to take it to the table. So it had actually gone by us. They probably didn't know which table it was for! We asked for drinks while at the bar and the waitress said she would come to the table to take our order.
We go back to the table, and both the waiter and waitress have a stand-off about who is going to take our drink order. That was awkward.
I really did not get a welcome vibe. The food was, for the most part, tasty. I got the Angus with doner burger. It was supposed to be a beef burger loaded with doner meat and creamy mushrooms. I was not impressed. There was next to nothing loaded in there. I'm lucky if there was one mushroom and a slice of doner in there. The burger was dry, but it wouldn't have been if it wasn't overcooked, and there were plenty of saucy mushrooms on there.
Will not go back. Sorry. Maybe it was an off night in the kitchen, but it shouldn't have reflected...
Read moreHad an absolutely terrible night tonight going to kapadokya. We had a voucher from our wedding to spend and had been looking forward to this for a long time after our 1st visit there was lovely. We went in and it was quite busy, we were sent upstairs and got seated, we waited and waited....and waited for someone to come take our drinks order.....30 minutes until we shouted someone over who took our drinks order, then it took another 10 minutes to bring them. Roll on being in there 45mins and nobody had been to take our food order. We asked the girl who brought the drinks if we could order something to eat which then a man came over and rudely asked what we wanted. We ordered 2 starters and 2 mains and i pointed to them on the menu when i ordered them as i wasn't sure how to pronounce one of them, he said they were very busy and our mains wouldn't be coming out of the kitchen for another 40mins as they were very busy downstairs and online. We said that would be fine as he said he would bring our starters asap. Total of 50mins now and our starters come halloumi and a bowl of hummous. When we asked where our starter was with the bowl of humous he said that is what we had ordered, when i tried to explain it wasn't what we had ordered he stormed off, he then came back and argued that it was. After then asking my husband to come with him to see a menu rather than bringing one over the whole restaurant upstairs were staring at us. We then said look we aren't being spoken to like this we dont want any of it, he then thrust the menu infront of us saying you lady ordered this, i said no i pointed to what i ordered and i ordered 2 things off the starters, he more or less called me a liar as he "knew what i had said and he had seen and you are wrong". Three tables round us all said they had been waiting for over an hour to have their orders taken and weren't happy either (whether they stayed or not i don't know) he then said to pay for our drinks and leave, no apologies for waiting or about the wrong food as obviously we weren't right he was đ We went downstairs by this point i was shaking i was that angry but paid for the drinks and said thank you when he gave us our change. He then said very sarcastically to have a good night and then loudly shouted something in turkish to the other staff.
Safe to say we will never be going back after being humiliated infront of a restaurant full of people, one of which a nice man actually said he agreed with us and it was...
Read moreWe came in as a group of 6 adults and 4 kids. When placing the order we asked if we can get some confirmation of allergens in the order we placed as one of the kids was recently diagnosed with walnut allergy. We never got a confirmation of this. We asked for some water and got only 1Jug for a table of 10 after about 15 minutes of waiting, no glasses. We had to ask them for the glasses. Their was no sign of food, so we asked if we could atleast get the cold platter part of the order as everyone, especially the kids were hungry. We got the cold platter, but no bread. When we asked for it, the staff was rude saying that fresh bread takes time. She however brought a basket in 5 minutes which was not enough for our table. We had asked for 2 more baskets which never arrived. The mains platter arrived over an hour and half after we ordered. One of the platter was missing rice. The Humush we ordered never came. We asked for some sauces 3 times to 3 different waitresses and that never arrived. One of us had to go to the bar and demand it and get it from there. When we explained the situation to the chef, he was rude as if it was our fault. No one gave us an apology or explanation.
We had travelled all the way from London for a holiday and after driving a whole day just wanted to have good food. Having spent 2 hours in the restaurant we had really lost our mood and appetite to even enjoy the taste of the food. We just wanted the ordeal to be over with.
The place might have potential, but the staff and management needs to change. Speed of service needs to be improved. If you want to keep the current behaviour then may be renrand yourself as Karen-dokya as the service was not short of Karen cafe.
If I could give below 1...
