We stayed at the cottages connected to the shop and tea room for a week. The cottages weren’t cleaned very well, despite apparently being extra cleaned for covid... Dust on the bed that was very thick and looked to have been untouched for weeks or months. A stain on the bedsheet that was either poo or blood. And cobwebs around the house that basic cleaning would have removed. Not a good start and this spoiled some of our holiday sadly. The main bedroom has a gap in the window between the window itself and the frame. Cold air blows in. The rear bedroom window is about 1-2 feet off the ground due to the buildings age. Not a problem in itself, but the window is broken. You can’t lock it closed. So when you have children there you run the risk of them falling from the top floor to the ground outside. Very dangerous! The buildings are noisy. You can hear your neighbours in the adjoining holiday cottages. The shop itself is limited. You’re better using the local shops. And the tea room was poor during our stay. A very reduced menu, said to be due to covid (other businesses in the area were doing full menus). And the food seems a bit overpriced for what it is. I don’t mind paying for decent food at high prices, but the price and quality do not match here sadly. Disappointing place to stay and use. There are good points to the place, but the negatives put us off returning. ** edit ** Just a warning for those booking here. Revoo rejected my negative review on this site. So be aware when booking through places like Hoseasons. You may see positive reviews, but it seems they reject negative reviews!

We popped in for a quick lunch, and what a good decision! Superb tea room. Friendly staff. Home cooked food. The paninis were outstanding. Sadly, the bacon sandwich less so, it was a little on the stringy side. There aren't many tables in the main part of the tea room, but there was outdoor seating available and more tables in the conservatory. The small menu and the prices are reasonable. The farm shop next door is small but well stocked. Local produce is on sale as well as gifts, postcards, etc. Disabled access is good. There is a small "petting zoo" with donkeys, goats, sheep and a couple of pigs. Bags of animal feed are on sale in the shop.

Absolutely disgusting service from the start. We entered the shop and was pointed to the ‘conservatory’ in the back as they noticed we had a little one in the pram. We required a table for 5 people and was told originally that was fine. I’d gone in beforehand to ask if there was enough space available, I was told yes. We went into the conservatory and found two small tables which weren’t big enough for a party of 5. We put the tables together and set up a high chair. As soon as we began looking at the menu the server with dark hair came in and asked ‘will anyone be joining you? If not, you need to move the tables back’ she then left and slammed the door. We were so upset by how she handled the situation so decided to leave. As we left she was again very rude and said ‘I’m not having this!’ Whilst storming off. Not sure of her name but she had dark hair and was on the bigger side. Do not visit this place if you are taking children or want to feel welcomed. If I could give 0 stars then I would do. There is a lovey garden tea room not too far on the Bondville model village which is 100x better for value and service all round and is very welcoming and friendly to family’s with or...

Called in for a hot drink after a walk along Bempton Cliffs and was abruptly asked if we had a booking upon entering? I wasn't aware small places like this required a booking, at least they don't in the North East. We were then told that we couldn't sit in the conservatory with our dog as they were fully booked so we're told we could sit in the courtyard. In the 20 minutes we spent there, the conservatory had one table of customers, the rest were empty. I almost felt like I had three heads the way the staff spoke to us. Not friendly at all and if it wasn't for the fact we are from Durham and not local to the area I would've walked out. But with cold thirsty children we stayed. I would never return. Absolutely not a scrap of customer service and felt incredibly...
