A fantastic place for a day out!
We visited here today for the first time and we had a such a fun time. We are just visiting on holiday but I would 100% visit this regularly if I was local. The place was huge, so well kept and clean and just very relaxing atmosphere. You are spoilt for choice with things to do and places to go- even just wandering around in the beautiful scenery made our day.
£11.50 per adult which I thought was very fair considering there was so much to do! Free parking as well which had plenty of spaces. The man on the counter/hut was so friendly and helpful it was a lovely welcome.
We had no problems getting a small mobility scooter around, it was all very accessible and mostly flat.
It was very dog friendly and our 2 collies absolutely loved having a walk somewhere new. There was plenty of bins around too which was handy. (They aren't allowed in the zoo or the house which is fair) we were still able to see the donkeys, shetland ponies, deer, alpacas and sheep whilst walking around so you don't miss out on too much!
We enjoyed the dinosaur lego sculptures dotted around the place- amazing to see so many bricks were used for each one. Was a fun little bonus to the park for sure.
We both enjoyed looking at the beautiful plants/trees/gardens/wood carvings etc- the place was just so peaceful and brimming with wildlife! There was plenty of seats dotted around to sit and enjoy the quiet. It had a cute Paddington bear theme which was so canny.
There was a lovely little gift shop and the lady was really friendly in there too. We enjoyed some yummy sandwiches as a quick lunch :)
I'd say probably one of the top places to visit in the area, could have happily stayed from open to close had we have had more time- we couldn't recommend it more! 5* day we've had...
Read moreThe idea of a stately home, park and zoo sounded all very Woburn Abbey so we took the plunge after fighting for a parking spot on Flamborough Head earlier in the morning only to find, on this sunny and unseasonably warm October afternoon, that the same crowd had decamped to here and we were fighting once more for a place to perch the motor. After three circuits we grabbed a spot and considered if a visit during half term was well thought out enough and perhaps we should have stuck to getting the bus to Whitby and walking the Cleveland Way instead. We persevered though and after paying (a mere £7 each) we immediately left the park to sit around the cricket pitch for lunch (if you've never seen an infinity pool (ocean) backdrop on a cricket pitch you should certainly drop in on this one. After fueling up we walked the house and instantly reconsidered if half-term was the best time for a visit with Halloween a couple of days away.... anyways, strolling around the gardens and then into the zoo was lovely and we managed to squeeze in (by sheer serendipity) feeding time for the penguins and lamas. The keeper for the latter was quietly entertaining and watching her do battle with a rather frisky ostrich was the best laugh I had all week. Well nearly. The look of sheer exhaustion on the poor waitress's face as we did our final pit stop of the day for coffee before we left said it all. It's clear that it's not just this teacher that is challenged by the unbound antics of children at half-term. A great place nevertheless - take you kids (obviously) they'll love it or else force them into university like us so you don't have to and give all us adults a well deserved break and we'll love it...
Read moreI went to Sewerby Hall on 12/09/24 and apart from the beautiful house, gardens and zoo, I had the pleasure of seeing 18 displays of Dinosaurs, made of 'building bricks', please see my photographs. You can download a guide to help find the dinosaurs, from the website, as you go in search for them! Please note that these models are on display for a very limited time only, which ends on Monday 23/09/24. The admission for myself was £11:50 and there is ample free parking. The website has more details of other things you can find at the hall, including a cafe, toilets, various gardens, woodland walk, play area and a zoo….and for now, Dinosaurs! All the staff I spoke to were very friendly, polite and helpful. There is a land train that will take you in to Bridlington, if you have time available. I walked from Sewerby in to Bridlington and back, along the cliff top, with has beautiful views along the coast. Providing you retain your ticket; you can leave the grounds and return. It is a really enjoyable day out, with plenty to see and do.
September 2023 The grounds at Sewerby Hall are beautiful and I had the pleasure of seeing 15 displays, made of a 'well known building brick', please see my photographs. Please note that this display is for a very limited time only. A big 'thank you' to the lady at the kiosk on the way in, who gave me an idea of where to find all the exhibits.
