I honestly don’t even know where to begin with Runcorn McDonald’s, because calling this place a McDonald’s is an insult to every other branch in the country. This has to be, without any shadow of a doubt, the single worst McDonald’s in the UK, maybe even the world. It is a masterclass in how to take a well-known brand and run it straight into the ground.
Let’s start with the service: it is beyond dreadful. The staff look like they’d rather be anywhere else on earth. Politeness? Non-existent. Efficiency? Forget it. You could order a black coffee and still wait half an hour while three staff members wander around looking confused. And when your food finally arrives (if it ever does), you’d better pray you get even half of what you paid for. Wrong orders are the norm here, not the exception. I’ve had missing items, stone-cold chips, half-filled drinks, and burgers that look like they were stepped on before being shoved into the bag.
Cleanliness is a complete joke. The dining area is consistently filthy, tables covered in crumbs, sauce smeared everywhere, bins overflowing, and sticky floors that haven’t seen a mop in weeks. And don’t even think about visiting the toilets unless you’re ready for a horror show. Broken locks, filthy sinks, toilet paper on the floor, and a smell so vile it makes you want to leave immediately. For a restaurant that prides itself on being family-friendly, this place is downright disgusting.
The atmosphere? Chaotic. Orders piling up, staff arguing, machines constantly “out of order,” and customers left standing around for ages with the same miserable expression: regret. The drive-thru is no better, if anything, it’s worse. You can sit in that queue for an eternity, only to discover once you get home that half your order is missing.
The food itself is an insult. Burgers slapped together without a care in the world, buns crushed and soggy, lettuce brown and limp, fries either raw or burnt to a crisp, and nuggets that taste like they’ve been sitting in a warmer all day. Nothing is ever fresh, nothing is ever hot, and nothing resembles the photos on the menu.
Honestly, Runcorn McDonald’s is a disgrace. It drags the McDonald’s name through the mud and somehow manages to get everything wrong; service, food, cleanliness, speed, and basic customer care. I wouldn’t recommend this place to my worst enemy. If you value your time, money, or dignity, avoid this branch like the plague. It’s the bottom of the barrel, the absolute worst of the worst, and proof that not all McDonald’s are...
Read more(UPDATE 2025: Ordered via just-eat and it's been over TWO HOURS now and I still no food. Rang these clowns and they say there's no driver so they haven't made the food yet. The app says the driver is there, waiting for them to finish preparing the food. Which is it? The estimated delivery time was 20 minutes when I ordered the food at 2155. Well it's now 0001am. What a JOKE. This store is run by clowns and incompetent kids!) EASILY the worst McDonald's in the area! Constantly make errors with drive thru orders such as leaving out nuggets, when I ordered a box of 9 I got 8 and no sauces that you should get with the box. They never seem to have milkshakes available. They forget napkins and straws all the time. I request no pickles on burgers and at least on two occasions they've had pickles on when I bit into them despite the sticker saying no pickles. Just two days ago they messed up a simple order, serving a cappuccino rather than a simple white coffee at the drive thru, despite what the receipt said. Also, they recently sent the wrong drinks with a breakfast order through just eat. Speaking of breakfast the mcmuffins are so greasy, so much so that the last time they gave us stomach problems. And they're always falling apart as someone else's photos showed. All in all, avoid! Amateur. Tried Widnes the other day, everything was hot, they got everything right, they had milkshakes available and even remembered to put the right sauces (including extras!) and the napkins in the bag. Speaks volumes that it's just this particular branch that can't do the simple...
Read moreSlowest service ever, run by kids who spend all their time talking to each other and rolling their eyes at customers. I watched a man stand by the only til, which was abandoned by staff and it took him 25 mins to get their attention to be served. It was shocking to see how little attention was paid to paying customers or their food.
We were going to dine in as a family, but the atmosphere inside was horrible, there's nowhere for customers to queue so they all sit down while waiting for their food, it makes everything feel tense because the wait times are so long, so we decided to take the food away instead because we didn't feel comfortable staying in.
The design theme is awful and ugly, looks like a prison visiting room. The interior has been remodeled to the point it actively looks like they don't want customers inside, feels like a prison.
There's zero care for the quality of the food, its always cold and always missing items and costs the same as a nice pub dinner.
Save your money, and go out for a real meal - because you'll get better service and better value for your money in any of the pubs or restaurants in Runcorn or Frodsham than you do at McDonald's. Its not just prison food at high prices with bad service. Awful,...
