McDonald's — Restaurant in England

Popped though the drive through for breakfast on a Monday morning at 8:30am. Hopeless. Go elsewhere.

How can I justify a single star? Let me explain…

Fast food? Nope - 1 star removed. Only one car ahead, none behind and two people at the counter. It’s peak time for breakfast yet there were few customers. Having ordered a breakfast McMuffin with hash browns with ketchup, portion of hash browns with ketchup and a black coffee, you’d think they would be ready at a fast food joint. Nope. Told to wait in a bay. It took nearly 10 mins. Not good when time is critical and it’s supposed to be ready. We had to grab and drive instead of eating first. Poor store management.

Wrong order? Yep - 1 star removed. Despite being asked what sauce went on the McMuffin there was none. Not only that, there was no ketchup either, so we couldn’t DIY. I ordered a black coffee and got a white coffee! They can’t read a simple food order and get it right. Because we were running late, I had to dash so we only found out our order was wrong once we were on our way. Too late to do anything about it. Poor cooking and poor service.

Missing food? Yep - 1 star removed. One of us wanted the McMuffin with hash browns. I wanted hash browns and black coffee. One packet of hash browns and two orders of ketchup were missing. Too late to go back. Given the coffee had milk in it So I had to miss breakfast. Poor service when they can’t check a simple order.

Veggie or vegan breakfasts options? Nope - 1 star removed. I’m a vegan and asked if there were any vegan breakfasts - “no sorry”! In this day and age it’s disgusting. I had to settle with hash browns and black coffee. Whether this was done maliciously or through sheer incompetence I’ll never know, but they put milk in my coffee. What a waste on every level. Poor choices, poor service.

So many franchise's from McDonalds DO NOT know the meaning of the brand, Middlesbrough Leisure Park is exactly that. When ordering from Uber Eats on the 22nd June 2025 I received my order in good time, however to be shocked what I received. The fries were half full, the milkshake three quarter full, the burger burnt and the packaging all ripped, I had to eat the Milkshake with a spoon as no straw.

When I called to speak with the manager and explained, what I heard was just dumfounding, who did you order from, i replied Uber Eats, then you have to contact them regarding the order.

Now please correct me if i am wrong, when did my Uber driver walk in to the Leisure Park McDonalds, walk behind the counter, and prepare my order, then bag it up and deliver it, I would say the chances of that is zero. What has angered me is that the manager passed the buck on to Uber Eats, they do not prepare the food, they are not responsible for packaging, for putting in a straw, a simple task, looking at the reviews for this particular franchise in Middlesbrough, you are in the top 5% of the worst in the country, that is a solid...

Everytime I use the drive thru either items are missing or they give me the wrong thing. For example, this morning I ordered the sausage and pancakes and got just the pancakes no sausage. I checked the receipt and sure enough the person taking the order heard me correctly and charged me for the sasauge and pancakes. This happens to me a good 3 out of 5 times. No care taken by the staff at this restaurant to get orders right. I feel that "fast food" is being used as an excuse not to care if the customer receives the correct items. The only target seems to be to keep the flow of traffic through the drive thru moving. If the order is "almost right" that will do. Dispute all this and nearly always having something missing from my order the quality of the food is as expected from a McDonald's restaurant to which I have no complaints.
